With these benefits, plus the option for flexible schedules and possible remote a few days a week (depending on customer requirements) we’ll support you as you pursue a balanced, fulfilling life-at work and at home. **Position Description:** This position will provide systems engineering and integration support as well as Work Package Management support to the Systems Planning and Technical Leadership Branch/(EV71) in support of the Spacecraft/Payload Integration and Evolution (SPIE) Element Office and the SPIE Project Planning & Control (PP&C) Manager. **Responsibilities:** Specific support to be provided includes, but is not limited to, the following: + Develop work package task agreements and accomplish the planning, schedule and execution associated with these work package agreements. + Facilitate integration across engineering discipline teams and collaborate with the SPIE Element leadership team to accomplish the scoped support within task constraints. + Develop effective working relationships with the SPIE Element as well as with engineering organizations. + Coordinate with the appropriate MSFC Engineering department/division/branch management personnel, as well as the SPIE Element, to collect and integrate SPIE task efforts, document agreement for products to be produced, and negotiate delivery schedule and resources. + Ensure that the required milestone review products are negotiated with the document developers and included in the task agreements for the SPIE Phasing Plan. + Collaborate with technical leads, including the SPIE Lead Systems Engineer, to develop planning, execution, and integration of multi-discipline analysis and “what if” scenarios. + Develop an understanding of schedule and resource constraints as well as an appreciation for how the flow down of schedule and resource constraints may impact engineering organizations, technical/discipline personnel, or Centers/Agencies. + Support schedule and execution efforts associated with the negotiated work packages including working with MSFC engineering task managers and the SPIE Element to develop detailed phasing plans and schedules. + Coordinate efforts associated with the delivery of SPIE products including assessing inputs and schedule performance to measure and the progress/status tasks in negotiated work packages. + Provide a status of negotiated work package efforts to the SPIE Element Lead Systems Engineer (LSE), SPIE PP&C manager, and SPIE leadership team to ensure their cognizance of the planning, execution, delivery, and workforce issues associated with the work package efforts. + Identify, describe, and communicate potential risks related to the products, processes, and interactions associated with the SPIE work packages and provide recommendations of best practices and lessons learned to EV71 and to the SPIE Lead Systems Engineer (LSE). + Participate in reviews, meetings (i.e. team/discipline, TIMs, teleconferences, etc.), working groups, and trade studies. + Support and/or administer major review and milestone events for the SPIE Element Office. + Develop programmatic processes, plans, and systems engineering documentation required to administer technical reviews. Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field is required. Degree from an ABET-accredited university is preferred. Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a BS with at least 5 years of experience, or a MS with at least 3 years of relevant experience. The candidate is required to have: + Familiarity of the programmatic planning, monitoring, and control of task efforts and the development of products associated with system design and hardware production. + Familiarity with the systems engineering life cycle end-to-end development ranging from requirements development, functional design, hardware integration, requirement verification, and flight readiness that ultimately lead to flight hardware certification. + Familiar with evaluating and integrating a large volume of project data and information in order to: + Develop descriptions of work package tasks to be performed. + Determine whether travel is needed to complete work package tasks. + Collaborate and negotiate on what data requirement deliverables are associated with the work package tasks. + Estimate and negotiate on the level of resources required to perform work package tasks and produce and deliver work package products. + Determine a feasible schedule for performing work package tasks and delivering work package products. + Self-direction, flexibility, and skill as a team player, familiar with working in a dynamic work environment. + Demonstrated experience developing and delivering project briefings. + Experience negotiating and collaborating to resolve complex technical problems and breaking down complex problems or issues into manageable pieces. + Excellent written and oral technical communication skills, with the ability to clearly define and describe a technical subject to peers across various engineering disciplines. + Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams & Outlook). Desired qualifications and experience (presence of one or more of these qualifications will be used as a selection factor): + An understanding and knowledge of the current SLS program. + Knowledge related to the SPIE hardware, including the Interim Cryogenic Propulsion Stage (ICPS), Launch Vehicle Stage Adapter (LVSA), and Orion Stage Adapter (OSA). + Working understanding of the SPIE interfaces and sub-elements. + Familiarity with NASA Systems Engineering policies and procedures related to technical management. Essential Functions Work Environment: General office environment (100%). Requires ability to provide clear, concise, accurate and timely communication, both verbally and in writing (100%). Requires ability to interact professionally with co-workers, management, and client (100%). Requires travel in the domestic USA (<10%) Physical Requirements: Requires sitting for extended periods of time in meetings with peers, management, and with our client at NASA facilities to discuss technical issues (10%). Also, requires sitting for extended periods of time at a desk to write reports and perform engineering tasks (40%). Requires ability to use stairs or elevators for access between floors and multiple buildings at NASA and Amentum facilities (10%). Equipment and Machines: Requires ability to operate a personal computer, a telephone, fax machine, copier, calculator, and other general office equipment (100%). Attendance: Normal workday is from 7:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday. Minimal overtime may be required (10%) to meet schedule milestones and to support technical demands of the job. Regular attendance is a necessity and adequate arrangements for delegating duties during absences are required. Other Essential Functions: The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and to make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgment is essential (100%).
