Systems Engineer Technical Specialist

Responsibilities Considered a recognized authority within the company, this position tackles unusually complex technical problems, providing highly innovative solutions. It involves determining and pursuing necessary courses of action to achieve desired results. Using a holistic approach, the role designs, develops, evaluates, and modifies end-to-end systems and systems-oriented products throughout their entire life cycle. Responsibilities Generates quantifiable requirements based on customer descriptions, system planning and design, and acquisition logistics. Ensures requirements comply with client needs and government standards through formal verification methods. Translates high-level product development strategies into system requirement specifications. Collaborates with other engineering disciplines to develop detailed implementation requirements. Establishes and coordinates the development of standards, practices, and procedures related to overall product development. Designs interfaces and integrates system elements to function cohesively. Assesses performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures. Acts as a customer liaison to support business development activities and understand and shape requirements. Participates in system conceptual design and documentation of design concepts. Participates in design reviews of components (hardware and software) to ensure their applicability to the current system and traceability of requirements through compliance verification and validation. Generates system-level requirements verification procedures and customer acceptance test procedures. Reviews test plans/procedures to ensure they meet contractual objectives and participates in the testing process to validate requirements. Program Description Provides SETA & SE&I services to an Intelligence Community customer. Focuses on critical, assured space communications and IT infrastructure. Supports the entire systems engineering lifecycle from conops development to operations. Captures user requirements and collaborates with developers to deliver capabilities. Involved in testing to ensure capabilities meet stringent requirements. Supports transition to operations and ensures critical operations are successful. Assists with client acquisition strategy, technology development, modernization, cyber, and information assurance support. Specific Position Description Position located with an Intelligence Community agency in Chantilly, VA. Opportunity at the start of a seven-year contract focusing on system modernization. Transitioning to Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). Transforming older hardware/software solutions into hybrid cloud systems. Responsible for engineering management of over a dozen mission systems. Manages engineering processes: roadmap development, portfolio, change, schedule, and risk management. May include project management for larger enterprise projects requiring significant coordination. Involves less structured work such as studies, alternatives analysis, and providing recommendations to government leadership. Qualifications Required: Must possess and be able maintain Top Secret/SCI clearance with Poly. 10 to 12 years with BS or 8 to 10 years with MS or 5 to 7 years with a PHd. 4 years of relevant experience in an RF space communications development/acquisition program can be substituted for BS. Technical BS in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical degree. Familiarity with systems engineering processes. The ability to work well within a team of engineers. Demonstrated success in working with government customers. Desired: 5 years of experience with Commercial/Government acquisition of satellite/ground segment hardware/software. BS in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Computer Science. Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). 3 years of experience as a SETA with IC agency customer working with systems engineering, requirements and other acquisitions related processes. Experience with digital engineering tools such as Cameo, Confluence/Jira, DOORs Next Gen, etc. Experience with RF based satellite communications. Experience with digital signal processing.
