Job Summary:

This Systems Engineering Leader will pioneer development and adoption of Model Based Systems Engineering for the Residential Business.  They will assess interactions between platforms to drive optimized product solutions and increase use of Modular Product Architecture to drive economies of scale.  Also, the leader will maintain visibility to the regulatory environment, industry trends and changing market conditions from a system design perspective.

This position has been designated as a Hybrid work schedule with work performed onsite 3 days each week. Location: Tyler, Texas

What you will do: 

Pioneer development and adoption of Model Based Systems Engineering processesLead effort to develop the MBSE ecosystem and methodologyChampion the adoption of MBSE across the Residential business while partnering with the other SBUs to drive adoption across the Trane Technologies EnterpriseDrive clear stakeholder needs and system requirements by partnering with Product Management and Platform Engineering teamsDrive creation and usage of system architecture modelingAssist in creating the strategic vision of how MBSE will tie into Model Based EnterprisePartner with Product Growth Teams to maintain competitive positioning data for major platformsLeverage VOC data to create fact-based approach to stakeholder needs and requirement developmentPartner with regulatory and sustainability activitiesWork with the Chief Engineer’s Office to incorporate Systems Engineering Standard Work into Internal Design Review 1 & 2 requirementsDevelop best practices & standard work for total system simulation excellenceDevelop Standard Work process and checklists for key system interaction criteriaDevelop Total System Cost Requirements; Work across PGTs to optimize overall system design to maintain relative cost competitiveness vs competitive landscapeProvide visibility to platform, subsystem and component change opportunities (as appropriate)Maintain visibility to the regulatory environment, industry trends and changing market conditions then communicate to Engineering teamsManage, direct, and develop 3 - 6 engineers

What you will bring: 

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with a minimum of 5 years engineering experience3 years of experience leveraging model-based systems engineering2 years of leadership (direct reporting relationship is preferred)Design engineering experience (Highly Preferred)Demonstrated exceptional interpersonal skills, team management, and effective communicationAbility to think strategically and to drive collaborative working relationshipsExperience working across multiple functions, regions and with multiple stakeholders to drive changeCoaching and mentoring within engineering as well as other functions to build a strong teamStrong business acumen to focus on overall business objectivesAbility to present to upper managementAbility to travel up to 10%

Compensation:   

Base Pay Range: $ 120,000-160,000

Total compensation for this role will include a commission/incentive plan. Disclaimer: This base pay range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, geographic location where the work is performed.
