As a Systems Fabricator, you will work with other manufacturing and engineering personnel to help fabricate, assemble, and integrate aircraft hardware and systems into prototype experimental aircraft in a fast-paced research and development environment. The Systems Fabricator may have little to no initial knowledge of the general job aspects but is expected to quickly build familiarity with standard systems materials and practices.

Duties and Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

Fabricating, assembling, and installing aircraft systems sub-assemblies and assemblies Interpreting and working to verbal and/or written instructions, such as schematics or blueprintsWorking under immediate and close supervision, and frequently having work performance reviewed in order to build experience in basic systems fabrication skillsPerforming simple and repetitive systems fabrication tasks, as well as assisting more senior team members with routine tasksReferring questions and problems to higher levelsMaintaining contact primarily with immediate work group, and obtaining or providing information requiring little explanation or interpretationPerforming duties in other skill areas such as composite fabrication or vehicle assembly 

Required Qualifications:

Experience in the use of standard hand tools and measuring tools such as scales, calipers, and micrometersExperience in the use of systems fabrication equipmentExperience in schematic/blueprint reading and basic math functionsGood communication skills, to include reading and following verbal and written instructionsAbility to work closely with immediate work group when obtaining or providing informationAbility to adapt to configuration changes common in research and developmentAbility to be flexible and adjust to the changing needs of the companyWillingness and ability to work with a team in a fast-paced research and development environmentAbility to plan work sequence of operation 

Desired Qualification:

Prior background in a mechanical field or verifiable mechanical aptitudePrior exposure to composite fabrication and assembly skills

Essential Job Functions:

Occasional lifting 50+ lbs.Must have sufficient agility to work in the interior of an aircraft structure. Will need to bend, stoop, squat, and/or kneel to occasionally work in cramped, tiring, and uncomfortable positionsAbility to work overhead for prolonged periods of time including lifting up to 10-15 poundsStanding 95% of the day, sometimes 8.5 – 12 hours per dayRequired to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment for an assigned taskWork with composite materials such as epoxy resin systems, fiberglass, carbon fiber, and foam/core products. Will also work closely with chemicals, such as acetone and alcoholMay be exposed to dirt, oil, fuel, grease, and hydraulic fluidsAble to adapt to altered schedulesOccasional pushing/pulling of heavy tools and tables (75-100 + lbs., with assistance)Manual dexterity to handle small parts, and tools and to manipulate composite material to various shapes using pressureRepetitive hand and arm motions including, but not limited to, trimming, sanding, and/or grinding of materialsOccasional sitting computer work Vision at close distances and ability to adjust focusAbility to operate a forklift and/or other heavy machinery including occasional driving of company-owned vehiclesMust be able to pass and maintain ‘pass’ status on OSHA-approved Pulmonary Fitness Test (PFT) in order to wear a respirator for prolonged periods of timeWork on varied work surfaces/environments, including but not limited to working in a busy shop environment, cold room, or in/on aircraft structures including raised platforms including but not limited to ladders, scaffolding, and stairsWork may be performed inside or outside of buildings. May be exposed to changing weather conditionsMust be able to read and understand SDS
