Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems Sector has an opening for a Principal / Sr. Principal Systems Model-Based Engineering (MBE) CAD/PLM Tools Engineer to join our Model Based Engineering Tools team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Engineering department. This position is located in Melbourne, Florida. This position can be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

The MBE Tools Engineer leverages prior engineering design and/or analysis experience to support Model-based Design (MBD), Model-based Analysis (MBA), and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) teams/initiatives related to AS engineering tools development.  The candidate works with a team of subject matter experts (SMEs) to uncover and resolve issues associated with the development and implementation of engineering tools and exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of the assignment.

Key Responsibilities:

Take ownership as Deputy IPT Lead for the AS Model-Based Engineering (MBE) organizationPlan and host recurring project management reviews (PMRs)Brief leadership team from AS Programs, AS Digital Transformation, and Enterprise Services (ES) organizationsFacilitate high-level conversations pertaining to sector design and analysis processes and proceduresCollaborate across all programs and sectors to provide feasible solutions to design and analysis challengesAssess program engineering for adherence to documented best practicesValidation and testing of CAD/PLM tool functionalityCreation of training/best practice documentation

Basic Qualifications for Principal Systems Model-Based Engineering (MBE) Tools Engineer:

Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 5 years of related professional/military experience to include a background in design, analysis and/or engineering tools development discipline OR Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related professional/military experience to include a background in design, analysis and/or engineering tools development.Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.

Basic Qualifications for the Sr. Principal Systems Model-Based Engineering (MBE) Systems Tools Engineer:

Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 8 years of related professional/military experience to include a background in design, analysis and/or engineering tools development discipline OR Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related professional/military experience to include a background in design, analysis and/or engineering tools development.Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

Active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).Experience working in an aerospace design environment.  Emphasis placed in the following disciplines:  Structural Design/Analysis, Subsystems Design/Analysis, Electrical/Mechanical Routing, or Mechanism Design/Analysis.Experience working with Teamcenter and NX (or equivalent PDM/PLM and CAD/CAE applications). Experience developing code for utilities.Experience in project management.Experience working in the context of an Agile/Scrum environment.Understanding and working knowledge of SysMLFamiliar with Model Based Systems Engineering practices and implementationExperience using system modeling tools (Cameo preferred) to solve systems engineering problems.Experience defining requirements with DOORSCommunicates effectively and clearly presents technical approaches and recommendations.

Salary Range: $95,300.00 - $142,900.00Salary Range 2: $118,600.00 - $178,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
