Northrop Grumman Defense Systems seeks a Systems Engineer with hands on Integration and Testing experience for a fast-paced, growing, dynamic position supporting distributed simulation and training programs in Orlando, Florida. NGDS is an industry leader in developing, integrating, and sustaining complex simulator systems for the US Department of Defense. Our engineering teams perform a variety of tasks leading to the successful integration, test, deployment, and sustainment of complex modeling & simulation (M&S) systems, enabling a worldwide distributed mission training capability. This Systems Engineer position is in support of the Federation Integration and Testing program for the United States Air Force (USAF) Combat Air Force (CAF) Distributed Mission Operations Network (DMON) program. In order to be successful in this position, a candidate - above all other qualities - must have an understanding of and experience operating in the complex modern air combat environment. The candidate will be responsible for the integration and acceptance of various USAF weapon system simulators and sites onto the DMON with the goal being to provide high quality, realistic distributed simulation training to crewmembers from the USAF and the other military services. The simulators on the CAF DMON utilize the DIS or HLA simulation protocols. Familiarity with these protocols, and/or designing, developing, integrating, or analysis of virtual, constructive and/or distributed simulation systems, or the operational use of these simulation systems is a significant secondary experience basis for a successful candidate. Testing experience (I&T, VV&A, OT&E, or system analysis and troubleshooting of technical systems) is also a desired experience basis. The candidate will be working in an extremely dynamic and challenging environment on a day to day basis supporting or leading the acceptance of new simulator systems and simulator sites onto the DMON, conducting ‘real time’ troubleshooting of interoperability issues during DMON events and aiding the resolution of documented interoperability issues across the DMON. Since the DMON is worldwide (CONUS, O-CONUS, PACAF and USAFE), this position requires the candidate to be willing to support I&T activities on an occasional ‘non-normal’ workday basis or for more than a normal 8 hour work day. **Systems Engineer primary responsibilities are:** + Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems + Analysis performed at all levels of total system product to include concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal + Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints + Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications + Performs integration and testing activities with contractor provided equipment and systems with various government provided systems + Generates test plans, test reports, system and software problem reports, and tracks issues through resolution In addition, the candidate must be a team player, able to work comfortably and effectively with company team members as well as program stakeholders and DoD contractor personnel using strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills. Also, the candidate may be required to travel in support of customer interface, technical interchange meetings, on-site technical support, and event/exercise support. **This requisition is open as a dual level opportunity. We will consider candidates at a level 2 or level 3:** **Basic Qualifications:** + **Level 2:** Bachelor's in in Engineering, Information Technology, Modeling & Simulation, or Computer Science, or experience in a related technical field with 2 years of experience OR Masters with 0 years of experience + **Level 3:** Bachelor's in in Engineering, Information Technology, Modeling & Simulation, or Computer Science, or experience in a related technical field with 5 years of experience OR Masters with 3 years of experience + US Citizenship required with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance + Within the last 7 years, USAF, USN, USMC, or USA rated operational experience specifically related to the air combat environment and air combat systems (some examples are, but not limited to – fighter or bomber pilot/navigator, combat helicopter pilot, special operations pilot, RPA pilot); or non-rated air combat control experience (some examples are, but not limited to – AWACS/Hawkeye controller, Combat Controller, JTAC). + Willingness and ability to occasionally support integration testing efforts, meetings or other activities outside of a normal 9 AM - 5 PM (8 hour work day) work schedule including both very early AM and very late PM integration testing activities. + Ability to compose high quality work materials such as test procedures, briefing slides, detailed reports, work-related manuals, or publications + Ability to comprehend, analyze and propose solutions to complex interoperability problems + Ability to coordinate, lead & document integration or testing related working groups + Ability to travel, including internationally, up to 10% of the time **Preferred Qualifications:** + Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in the field of Engineering, Information Technology, Modeling & Simulation, or Computer Science + Active US DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance + Experience with distributed simulation protocols such as DIS, HLA, TENA + Experience in developing, integrating, or analysis of virtual, constructive and/or distributed simulation systems, or the operational use of these simulation systems. + Experience in integration & test, VV&A, operational evaluation, or system analysis and troubleshooting of technical systems. + Experience with use and operations of DoD Aircraft Systems such as IFF, Radar Systems, Radio Communications, Data Links, Munitions, Electronic Warfare, Aircraft Representation + Experience performing computer system and software performance analysis + Ability to develop and present material outside the immediate work function **Salary Range:** $77,200 - $115,800 **Salary Range 2:** $95,300 - $142,900 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
