Systems Specialist II (BAS, BMS, Controls)

This position is responsible for assisting in the operation of the department. An individual in this position will be expected to perform additional job-related responsibilities and duties throughout the facility as assigned and or as necessary. In addition to the responsibilities below, the BAS Specialist II performs routine and complex technical duties in troubleshooting and repairing components within building automation field cabinets, sensors, and related controls.

 

Essential Functions:  An individual must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.   

Troubleshoot and make necessary repairs to building-automation-system field cabinets, including communication devices, printed circuit boards, power supplies, electrical/electronic controls, sensors, and transducers.  Safely perform point-to-point checkout per department standards, e.g., use multimeter to check continuity and/or resistance of sensors, verifying sensors with calibrated meters, breaking connection at end devices to verify IO channel assignments, verifying valve stroke and fail positions, etc.  Mentor lower-level technicians to maintain these standards.  Take initiative and responsibility for the checkout of end devices, module configuration, and troubleshooting network related issues.  Responsible for the startup of simple to complex automation systems and mechanical equipment.  Understands various protocols that may be integrated into the building automation system.  Able to make complex programs and graphic changes to meet specification and sequence.  Communicate technical issues to management, project managers and/or more senior level technicians.  Maintain field markups, and coordinate field markups from lower-level techs.  Report to work on time and ready to perform assigned tasks.  Perform necessary database tasks such as backups, clippings, troubleshooting and exporting of files.  Maintain company tools, test equipment, and material.  Creates thorough daily reports to submit to EMS project team and supervisor.  Mentors and sets a good example for lower-level technicians.  Looks for opportunities to keep the project moving forward.  Communicate with jobsite personnel from other trades to complete project objectives.  Works with commissioning agent to demonstrate system functionality.  Take part in solutions-based discussions with owners and project stakeholders both inside and outside the company.  Drive employee engagement, training, and development in the key areas of safety, quality, and productivity.  Ensure that all quality and safety standards, specifications and policies are met, drive continuous improvements, and collaborate with the team to drive efficiency.  Support a culture based on open/honest dialogue and involvement with all team members that demonstrates the value of their input and engagement in improving performance.  Support a culture of high performance and accountability in employee and site safety and other aspects of the business.  Complete weekly timecards accurately and timely by 8am every Monday.
