We have an exciting opportunity for a Systems Test Intern to join the team

This is a temporary role not to exceed 12 weeks.

The Systems Test Intern will\:

Support the Systems Test Branch (EC4) at the Johnson Space Center by helping setup an Additive Prototyping Laboratory using 3D Printers. Work on Projects related to Cryogenic Testing and Space Simulation Develop software tools and processes.  ​ *

Requisition Qualifications\: 

​Working towards a BS degree in electrical, mechanical and computer engineering from an accredited university Currently enrolled at an accredited university Completed at least 45 credit hours Minimum of 2.8 GPA Courses or training in 3D Modeling Experience with slicer software Experience with Excel Macros and Visual Basic Strong written and verbal communication skills​​

Requisition Preferences\:

Experience working with FDM/FFF 3D printers Knowledge of iterative design to own process from prototype prints to production parts. Knowledgeable of the requirements for setting up a Makerspace consisting of multiple printers (preferably high temp and/or multitool head printers) General material knowledge to appropriately select filaments for various environments. Ability to assemble, configure, conduct initial setup and calibration of 3D printers. Knowledge and ability to safely operate, repair, troubleshoot 3D printers​

Essential Functions

Work Environment

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Equipment and Machines

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

Attendance

Regular attendance following an established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust the schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.

Other Essential Functions

Professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
