Job Summary
NOTE: This is a Hybrid position and can be filled either at the Abilene,TX OR San Angelo, TX Location.Transmission Field Services T-line Field Engineers are located across the AEP TFS Line Regions to provide technical support to internal TFS Line crews and to act as a liaison between TFS, Transmission Line Engineering, and other departments across the organization.
Responsible to the assigned supervisor for performing intermediate level engineering work activities and projects requiring the application of engineering knowledge in a safe, effective, efficient, and economic accomplishment of assigned objectives.

Basic Job Functions:
This position serves to apply engineering and technical skillsets to assist the T-Line areas in the execution of T-Line work plans including large scale capital projects, maintenance projects, inspections, and other tasks as required.The Field Engineers will interact regularly with frontline construction crews on job sites and at offices and should be comfortable in a dynamic field environment.Field Engineers will support crews in various capacities including but not limited to specifying and ordering material, supporting new process and tool implementation, managing emergency material stock, engaging in new technological opportunities, supporting the implementation of UAS (drones), and assisting in major storm response as required.The Field Engineers act as Subject Matter Experts regarding Transmission Line construction means and methods as well as Engineering standards and design principles and how they apply to construction activities.

Engineer (Grade 06-07):
Has typically acquired two-four (2-4) or more years of related engineering experience along with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*.
*Individuals with a Master's degree in engineering from an engineering program accredited by ABET* may be considered for entry into the organization at a grade 06 level.
*ABET - Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.
Acceptable alternatives are:
a Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET), plus a Professional Engineers (PE) license in any state of the U.S. ORa Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a Master's degree or PhD in engineering from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor's program.Engineer Sr (Grade 08):
Has typically acquired six (6) or more years of related engineering experience along with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*; or 4 years of related engineering experience along with a Master's degree or PhD in engineering from a program accredited by ABET*
Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico** is encouraged and preferred.
*ABET - Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.
Acceptable alternatives are:
a Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET), plus a Professional Engineers (PE) license in any state of the U.S. ORa Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a Master's degree or PhD in engineering from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor's program.** Confirmation is required to ensure the PE obtained in Puerto Rico aligns with NCEES standards.
Salary Ranges-
Engineer (Grade 6)- $72.380- 90,474.
Engineer (Grade 7)- $ 85,081- 106,353.
Engineer Sr (Grade 8)- $96,110 - $124,940.
