Tactical Director of Procurement Operations

Our corporate office in Livonia, Michigan is currently seeking a Tactical Director of Procurement Operations to join our team! The Tactical Procurement Director will lead the tactical procurement function, ensuring efficient and effective procurement processes that align with the company's strategic objectives. This role involves overseeing day-to-day procurement activities, performance management, and implementing cost-saving initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a proven track record in procurement management, negotiation, and team leadership.

Primary Responsibilities:

Procurement Operations Management:

Oversee daily procurement operations, including purchase order management, supplier coordination, and inventory control. Ensure procurement activities are executed efficiently, meeting organizational needs and timelines.

Process Optimization:

Develop and implement best practices and standard operating procedures to streamline procurement processes. Continuously assess and refine procurement workflows to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Performance Monitoring:

Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to procurement operations. Prepare and present regular reports on procurement performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.

Cost Management:

Monitor procurement spending and manage budgets to ensure cost-effectiveness. Identify opportunities for cost savings and implement strategies to reduce procurement costs while maintaining quality.

Compliance and Risk Management:

Ensure all procurement activities adhere to company policies, legal requirements, and industry regulations. Identify and mitigate risks associated with procurement operations to protect the company’s interests.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

Work closely with internal stakeholders, including finance, operations, and product teams, to align procurement activities with organizational needs. Provide expertise and support on procurement-related matters to various departments.

 

Education/Background Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in procurement, with at least 4-6 years in a managerial or director-level role focused on operations. Strong understanding of procurement processes, supply chain management, and supplier relationship management. Proven experience in optimizing procurement operations and driving process improvements. Excellent leadership and team management skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in procurement software and systems Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required Valid passport and ability to travel internationally. Bilingual preferred: English/Spanish.
