Talent Manager

Job Overview:

The Talent Manager will be the organization’s business partner who actively drives the planning and administration of all talent management, leadership development, and team effectiveness programs. This position will focus on succession planning, talent reviews, goal setting, performance appraisals, leadership and team development, coaching, assessment, employee engagement, and the use of talent management tools through UKG and practices to lead leaders and teams toward performance excellence.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manages the Organization’s Talent, Leadership, and Team Planning Processes

Works collaboratively with the organization’s leaders and HR team to develop a healthy leadership pipeline for the organization (operational and functional leaders). Leads the implementation of all talent, leadership, and team planning processes, policies, and procedures, which includes but is not limited to succession planning, performance management, talent management, leadership assessment, and leadership development planning. Actively engages, coaches, and educates leaders and HR partners in team effectiveness processes including assessments, observations/feedback on team effectiveness competencies, and team building opportunities. Coaches and supports leaders in creating an engaged environment (use of tools, team building activities, development activities, etc.). Advocates practices that improve team effectiveness, development, employee engagement, and continuous improvement. Actively engages in and works to enhance the UKG talent tools to ensure usage of tools is adequate and understood across the organization.

Manages the Individual Development of Leaders

In partnership with Learning & Development, champions the individual development of focused managers, supervisors, and emerging leaders.  Recommends and leads the individual development planning processes for organization. Responsible for active involvement in connecting managers with training programs specifically designed around leadership development and employee engagement. Educates leaders on individual development best practices and facilitates the overall implementation of career mapping of high potentials, emerging leaders, and managers who are identified as successors in succession plans.

Provides Talent Management Guidance and Advice

Acts as the organization’s talent management consultant by guiding the planning and implementation of practices that nurture the development of a continuous improvement organizational climate.  Champions the development of the company’s HRIS—partnering with UKG to ensure talent management programs are fully optimized, developing training for end users, and coaching managers on the processes. Works with the organization’s leaders to develop organizational strategies that improve work environment and business goals.  This may include change management plans, post-survey analysis and action plans (i.e., external and internal surveys), and senior leadership team development (i.e., offsite development programs) that supports the vision, mission, and values.

Directly Supports Leadership Development Programming

Acts in support of the Leadership Development Programs by presenting, facilitating, and/or developing content or support materials for specified programs.

Supports the Overall Development of the Talent Team

Actively contributes to the continuous improvement of the Talent team by leading special projects, conducting research, analyzing programs, and providing critical feedback that helps solve team problems or improve Talent processes and practices. Supports Talent team members as needed.

 

EDUCATION & MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

8 to 10 years of experience in HR-related functions that includes talent management and leadership development. Ability to work independently with minimal direction from manager. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to learn and optimize the company’s HRIS. Ability to understand the business and business strategy and to apply talent management process and tools to support strategic business objectives. Proven coaching and influence skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Clear commitment to excellence and continuous improvement. Proven experience reporting results and communicating to stakeholders. Relationship-driven with strong leadership and excellent interpersonal Demonstrated personal drive and sense of urgency when pushing for results; delivers on results despite obstacles. Proficient in MS Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
