**Description**
**Job Summary**
Responsible for performing welding and grinding functions per job specifications. Selects equipment and plans layout and assembly of welding. Works closely and interacts with supervision. Works with precise limits and standards of accuracy. Able to weld in all positions – horizontal, vertical, flat, and overhead.
Please note this will be used to fill several vacancies for the Syncrude project located near Fort McMurray, AB. Please note, this is a tank maintenance and repair project; you will not be solely welding all the time.
+ The schedule is 10 days, 4 days off, 10-hour to 12-hour days. Please keep in mind, travel to site is always Mondays to start Tuesdays and travel home is either AFTER working a full day on the following Thursday OR you can opt to stay in camp for an additional night and travel home on the Friday morning
+ Camp accommodations with paid travel up at the beginning of the job and paid travel home at the very end of the job.
+ Bussing is available from camp to job site and vice versa
+ You are responsible for getting to site and home on your own
+ Must be available to start January 2025; project is slated to go until July 1.
+ Must possess Journeyperson card OR an active apprenticeship card with any provincial governing body; we will need a copy of this.
+ Must be able to successfully pass a weld test and D&A screen (conditions of employment) prior to employment beginning.
**Essential Functions**
+ Actively supports the Company’s commitment to safety and its “Core Values.”

+ Receives and understands instructions and prints regarding work assignment in field.
+ Performs work requiring knowledge of the welding properties of various types of metals, welding rods, welding heat, stress relief, allowances for fit-up and machining, and the effect of shrinkage, warpage, and expansion.
+ Interprets drawings and sketches; plans details of working procedure; and decides on tools and materials needed.
+ Sets up, assembles, cleans, and prepares items to be welded.
+ Performs welding in all positions. Makes any type and size of weld.
+ Fitting flat, bottom steel sheets for proper welding application
+ Uses burning equipment to dismantle assemblies and to cut materials to size and shape.
+ Cleans and chips or grinds parts and welds.
+ Weld tacking horizontal and vertical seams.
+ Cleans up material and debris after completing each job.
+ Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.
+ Loading and offloading field equipment and material shipments from trucks
+ Perform all other job-related duties as requested by supervision.
**Qualifications**
+ Tank Building and/or Repair experience, required.
+ Must be able to pass test- 2G, 3G, 4G in both SMAW & FCAW processes.
+ Must maintain a 95-100% pass rate on weld X-ray/visual exams.
+ Must be able to read prints and written instructions as well as follow verbal directions required to perform duties and responsibilities.
+ Follow welding procedure specifications when welding.
+ Must have a positive outlook; willing to work as a team and independently.
+ Must possess hard work ethic and willingness to learn new things.
+ Must be willing to travel for work.
+ Must be willing to work frequent overtime.
+ Fire retardant clothing is required for site.
+ Maintain clean shaven and/or free of facial hair so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly. (Site Specific)
**Training Required:**
+ OSSA Regional Orientation OR Common Safety Orientation
+ CSTS-09 OR CSTS-20
+ OSSA/ESC Fall Protection
+ OSSA/ESC Confined Space
+ OSSA/ESC AWP
+ Air Purifying Respirator (APR)
+ Respiratory Protective Equipment Training (RPE)
**Physical Requirements:**
+ Must be able to perform tasks at heights.
+ Must be able to weld under air – use of RPE equipment is mandatory on site.
+ Work will include pushing, pulling, lifting, or carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds, such as raw or fabricated material, equipment, or tools.
+ Heavy lifting will often be required to perform tasks.
+ Must be able to kneel, squat, and climb.
+ Work will include frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, and stooping and occasional climbing onto equipment and/or trailers.
+ Work involves standing and/or walking for extended periods of time, up to a minimum of 8-10 hours per day.
+ Must be able to perform required duties for extended periods of time, often inside confined spaces.
+ Must be able to perform tasks in hot and cold temperatures.
