GENERAL FUNCTION

The EssilorLuxottica Indirect Tax Team is responsible for the design, implementation, and defense of Indirect Tax strategies and positions. The Tax Accountant will play an integral role in supporting the North American Indirect Tax function. This position will primarily perform accounting and business compliance activities related to sales and use taxes in a shared service environment which supports retail, ecommerce, wholesale, and distribution entities.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepares and files sales and use tax and other miscellaneous indirect tax returns in accordance with US and Canadian tax laws. Researches and responds to sales and use tax questions from internal and external customers. Reviews fixed asset acquisitions for proper application of sales/use taxes. Assists with responding to notices from taxing authorities. Completes monthly reconciliations of tax accounts to ensure accurate reporting. Performs monthly closing and reporting activities for Indirect Tax. Works with business partners and customers to maintain valid exemption certificates. Effectively navigates tax software and ERP systems to obtain data. Assists in preparing for sales tax audits. Develops and maintains department standard operating procedures and/or Service-Level Agreements with internal business partners. Supports special projects and tax planning initiatives. Effectively manages time to achieve department and organization goals and deadlines. Identifies tax and accounting risks, thinks strategically, adds perspective, and recommends solutions while focusing on minimizing tax risks. Analyzes data and compares multiple variables while making sound business decisions. Challenges processes and identifies innovative ways to improve accuracy, efficiency, and overall governance.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

BBA or BS in Accounting or equivalent experience 1 to 3 years of multi-state sales tax experience Working knowledge of Vertex O Series, Vertex Returns and/or SAP desired. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience with or a desire to learn automation tools such as Alteryx. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to perform tax research, interpretation, and application to business activities. Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail. Thorough understanding and practical application of accounting principles. Strong analytical/problem solving skills. Ability to adapt to change including shifting and competing priorities Takes the initiative to solve problems and pursue business opportunities.

Employee pay is determined by multiple factors, including geography, experience, qualifications, skills and local minimum wage requirements.
