Job Title: Tax Accountant

Reports to: Senior Tax Manager
GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:
The Tax Accountant is responsible for the preparation of sales/use tax returns, VAT and Canadian GST/HST/PST. This role will assist in recording fixed assets within SAGE FAS system, prepare various account reconciliations for income tax, sales tax and/or income tax payable accounts and prepare carline reports. Ensure organization complies with periodic tax payments and other taxing authority requirements. Prepare complex spreadsheet computations in preparation for multijurisdictional corporate income tax filings and other miscellaneous tax assignments.

Prepare monthly and quarterly sales/use tax returns, and/or VAT returns Assist with federal and state income tax return information gathering Prepare quarterly/yearly state estimates/extension tax payments/filings Assist with various year-end tax provision projects Prepare annual Carline ReportsFunctional & Technical Skills
Provide planning and/or process improvement ideas for all assigned areas of responsibility. Update Sage FAS software as needed to ensure assets are input correctly Provide feedback to business units regarding tax impact of business decisions Monitor federal/state income and sales/use tax law changes Monitor, review and suggest improvements for existing internal tax policies and systemsBEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and or Finance
Experience: 0-3 years of Tax experience and/or general accounting
*Or the equivalent of 4 years combination of education and experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Excellent written and oral communication skills Attention to detail Proficient with Microsoft Excel/WordPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with tax software such as Vertex and/or Sage FAS CPAWORKING CONDITIONS:
