Overview of Position

The Tax Accountant is responsible for the monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and other indirect tax filings and coordinating with Vertex. Respond to tax audits and notices. Ensure timely compliance and periodic tax payments to various state and local tax agencies. Conduct research for tax planning opportunities. Coordinate with financial staff to insure proper internal control of the tax function and reporting. Assist and deal with various outside consultants in special projects.

Job Responsibilities

Sales Tax (return compliance, Vertex maintenance, audits, customer inquiries, Oracle, and website sales tax accuracy) Sales tax analysis of product classification – need to review all jurisdiction coding at least once a year along monitoring tax law changes and administrative guidance. Qualify new products as they are introduced. Property Tax Franchise & Gross Receipt Tax Unclaimed Property filings Other (1099 Misc., Job Credit, etc.) Prepare sales tax exemptions. Address any sales tax exams. Address sales tax inquiries – respond to any sales tax questions. Coordinate the sales tax account journal entries in Oracle with Accounting team. Maintain the filing calendar. Prepare Property & RE tax estimates and filings. Maintain the sales tax login for state-by-state websites. Prepare gross receipts tax payment computations and returns in Ohio, Nevada, and other locations. Prepare Delaware franchise tax and estimated tax filings. Maintain unclaimed property process and prepare filings. Prepared the detail for 1099 MISC: Compiling Health Coach 1099 data using Hyperwallet and working with Optavia Field Operations team. Prepared Job Credit applications – file job credit application when eligible Prepare VAT & GST Filings

Knowledge, Education, Skills & Abilities

Bachelor's Degree Sales tax background 3-4 years of experience Public Accounting experience preferred. Proficient in Excel Ability to research tax laws Solid written and verbal communication skills Vertex experience highly desired Oracle knowledge is preferred.
