Tax Analyst
Tax Analyst

The Tax Analyst is responsible for preparing and filing indirect corporate tax returns, supporting calculations and workpapers. The position assists management in analyzing tax implications of various transactions, develops tax planning strategies, analyzes the financial impact of tax legislation and researches tax issues affecting the organization.  In addition, the position defends the company’s tax filings in audits conducted by governmental agencies.

What You’ll Do:

You will prepare and file monthly state/local Sales & Use tax returns, General Excise tax returns, Gross Receipts tax returns, and maintain business licenses as required in the various jurisdictions.

You will prepare and file business property rendition statements for Property Taxes, declaring cost and other information as required by the various jurisdictions.

You will prepare and file Premium Tax returns for our Insurance entities as required by various state and local jurisdictions.

You will aid in tax audits, including responding to Information Document Requests, documenting filing positions and providing supporting schedules and logistical support by extracting data from the various financial reports.

You will assist management in the documentation of various business processes used to prepare the various tax filings, including documentation of appropriate control procedures.

You will assist in research and development of tax planning strategies and provide guidance to various parts of the organization on how to best optimize tax treatments of certain transactions.

You will prepare and file Form 5500 for employee benefit plans, as well as state and federal exempt organization returns for the tax exempt VEBA trusts.

You will calculate and prepare tax payments and work closely with Corporate Disbursements to make sure they are timely settled.

What You’ll Need:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics preferred

To thrive in this role, you will need a minimum 2 years of related work experience, either in industry or public accounting required.

Prior insurance industry experience is a plus but not required.

Knowledgeable in mainframe accounting systems, such as general ledger, accounts payable, fixed assets and purchasing and tax preparation software is highly preferred.

Professional verbal and written communication skills required.

Strong logic and analytical skills required.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office software products, including Outlook, Word and Excel required.

The starting pay range for this position is:

$71,100.00 - $94,800.00
