Tax and Licensing Coordinator
Southern Veterinary Partners (SVP) is a regional network of animal hospitals with the goal of providing the highest quality veterinary care to companion animals. A leading private equity team sponsors SVP. SVP currently owns over 400 locations in the United States and is growing rapidly at an average of acquiring five new locations monthly. SVP needs a Compliance Coordinator to join our rapidly growing team in Birmingham, AL. This role will be integral to SVP’s Accounting Integration and Compliance process. This role will primarily be focused on vendor relationships required for account transition post-acquisition. Licensing Register and maintain new entities, tax accounts, and required annual report filings Maintain tracking for hospital-required licenses, real & personal property filings for 300+ locations Coordinate/Collaborate with the third-party licensing vendor to track all active Business-related licenses Process all requests from the third-party licensing vendor promptly to mitigate late filings Administration (Tracking and upkeep via Excel) of Company Sales Tax Registrations for all locations in all required states. Sales Tax Maintain tracking and copies of all state business and sales tax registrations for each location. Maintain a listing of tax payments by state and by location. File sales tax for each location and jurisdiction by the month-end deadline Work with External Tax Firm on updates to revenue and use tax matrices Work alongside our Field Integration Team to ensure new locations have correct taxable and exempt categories in their Practice Management Systems Keep up to date with changes to sales and use tax law changes Requirements Knowledge of sales tax regulations as they pertain to various states and municipalities Knowledge of sales/use tax laws and compliance requirements Superior communication and collaborative skills; Effective presentation skills Successful at meeting strict deadlines and effectively resolving issues timely Aptitude to adapt to a fast-paced environment and accounting software tools Benefits Work with an organization recognized as #1 in Healthcare by Newsweek’s Most Loved Workplaces in 2024.
