Tax Associate – 3 month contract - immediate

The Tax Associate, is responsible for performing tax analysis and preparing income tax and financial returns, as well as accompanying information slips, for hedge fund clients established primarily as trusts and limited partnerships. This position will be part of a Canadian tax team based out of Toronto, and work with a global team of tax professionals at SS&C. The role will liaise directly with clients, investors, auditors and external parties regarding tax related questions/concerns and also be required to perform legislative tax research as required.  The Tax Associate will also work on additional projects such as HST/GST filings

What You Will  Do:

Prepare tax provisions and income allocations for investment funds including trusts and limited partnershipsPrepare trust income tax returns and partnership financial returns using tax softwareLiaise with investment fund managers and audit firms during the audit and review processAdvise clients and internal parties on all tax related mattersAssist and participate in special projects and other duties as necessaryParticipate fully as a member of the tax team and contribute to a positive work environmentStay current on changes to tax legislation and other tax compliance requirements for investment funds

What You Bring:

Undergraduate accounting, finance or equivalent degreeWorking towards a professional accounting designationHigh proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience working with tax software is an assetStrong analytical skills with ability to work independently, under pressure, and with attention to detail to meet deadlinesExcellent verbal and written communication skills
