Global Tax Corporate Operations Specialist – Vice President – Bengaluru or Hyderabad

The Tax department’s primary mission is to ensure the firm’s compliance with the tax laws of those countries ( and local jurisdictions) in which the firm conducts business and to assist businesses in managing tax risk.

Providing tax information for the firm’s financial statements.

Preparing/ supervising the preparation of tax returns for the firm as well as any associated supporting documentation:

Advising the firm’s professionals on the tax implications of the firm’s businesses and/or transactions undertaken by or for the firm.

The Tax department is seeking a highly motivated individual to join and help shape the structure and vision for our team, with a focus on process execution, controls and a passion for financial reporting and tax. The individual should have experience in overseeing the collection, preparation, review and distribution of data to assemble key deliverables and ensure that Goldman Sachs meets its reporting obligations.  Responsibilities will cover design and operation of processes related to all areas of reporting of taxes, including statutory direct and indirect tax compliance. The candidate would use their analytical skills to identify opportunities to leverage technology tools and engineering solutions to support transformation and convert newly designed solutions into routine and controlled processes. This role will entail coordination within Tax and across Engineering, Controllers and Operations teams to manage system implementations, process improvements, requirements gathering, execution and ensure alignment with regulatory requirements. 

 

Responsibilities: 

 

Partner with our Tax professionals and the tax transformation team to help design and implement in-house financial reporting of taxes for Group consolidation/local GAAP purposes and tax compliance process, including coordination with various regional, global Controllers and the tax/technology and Business Data & Intelligence teamsExecute day to day activities based on standard operational procedures, processes and systems used for tax provisions compliances, and related reportingChange management – Partner with tax professional, engineers and other relevant stakeholders in operational implementation of changes in upstream data, regulatory landscapes, business and functional changes and ensure documentation of the enhanced/ updated processes and controls for tax reporting and complianceEnsure process simplification, eliminate duplication among various stakeholders- design workflow for the monthly/quarterly and year end process and collaborate with teams to design and document updated workflows and proceduresWork with Tax, Finance Controllers, Engineering, business units, and outside consultants to leverage technology solutions for the Tax department (e.g., compliance software, ERP systems, Oracle low-code automation tools, and internally developed systems) and develop knowledge of tools, systems and upstream processes in support of the tax reporting function and highlight opportunities for improvement, managing projects that will yield risk mitigation and efficiency through optimization and automationUtilize advanced analytical tools to build, control, maintain and deliver large structured and unstructured data sets from various data sources in the most effective and efficient way, including timely extraction and transformation of data from disparate sources into a form that is consumable by analytics and tax compliance processesManage relationships to track and monitor workstream(s) progress, ensure timely reporting of milestone and dependency status, monitor risks and issues to escalate to leadership, and execute day-to-day project management activities 

 

Requirements/Experience/Education:  

Bachelor’s degree or above4+ years of relevant work experience in the calculation and financial reporting of taxes for multinational business gained through professional advisory firms and/or in-house centres of excellenceOrganized, analytical and methodical with a strong sense of process improvement within the control risk framework Experience with tax and accounting products such as Oracle, Thomson Reuters, Corptax, Longview, Vertex, HFM and SAP, including knowledge in Alteryx, MS Power Query/Pivot, SQL, JSON and other analytical toolsHigh level of accuracy in managing tax-related processes and documentation and demonstrate a good understanding of Global tax Compliance and Reporting needs
