Tax Director, Tax Policy – Washington Tax Council

This is a position in Washington Tax Council to provide thought leadership to the Baker Tilly tax practice and external clients. This position is ideal for tax specialists who want to expand their technical skills and build a career in a specific field of tax. We are seeking a strong individual with deep knowledge and demonstrated experience and a comprehensive understanding of tax policy. Must be located within 50 miles from a Baker Tilly office.

Job Responsibilities include:

Continue to advance the tax policy vertical, connecting tax policy to business concerns

Tracking and evaluating developments in federal tax legislation and regulatory guidance

Leading the development of timely tax intelligence on tax policy developments and trends, for both internal and external audiences

Creating dynamic resources for internal and external audiences (Tax Strategy Playbook, Election Website, etc.)

Collaborating with subject matter experts, specialty tax leaders, industry leaders, and vertical leaders to keep them up to date with developments relevant to their practice

Leading the tax trends webinar series for external audiences

Participating in and developing content for L&D programs

Serve as a tax media resource in collaboration with the public relations team, identifying newsworthy angles and acting as a spokesperson when needed

Successful candidates will have:

Bachelor's degree in accounting or law, or a similar degree in business

CPA or JD required

Minimum 10-15 years of experience in federal tax

10+ years of experience with a large accounting firm, law firm or relevant tax policy-making entity.

Demonstrated strong research, analytical, critical thinking, and project management skills

Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to provide exceptional client service, demonstrate commitment to continuous learning in order to stay current regarding applicable strategies, see the "big picture" as well as the details, display appropriate ethical knowledge and commitment, and exhibit a sense of urgency and commitment to quality and the timely completion of projects

Ability to modify their schedule on a daily/weekly basis as tax developments occur

For California, Colorado, New York and Washington: The compensation range for this role is $210,380 to $455,850. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
