Client offers a robust benefits : Annual Paid Time Off and paid company holidays Comprehensive Health Benefits from day one Employer-contributed 401(k) plan vested at 100% detail oriented development and growth opportunities Client is seeking a Tax Manager to support our Senior Tax Manager with income tax compliance, income tax provision, indirect tax compliance and rate case filings across multiple US states. This is a permanent position based in Sugar Land, TX Responsibilities: Coordinate with external service providers in preparation of federal and state income tax returns Review internally prepared tax compliance and provision workpapers Review quarterly estimate/extension calculations and coordinate timely payments Assist the finance department in tax provision calculations for utility rate case filings Manage tax audits and keep track of their status Review indirect tax filings Review complex tax filings, seek opportunities to reduce tax burdens and correct errors Develop and implement tax policies and practices Maintain relationships with other departments within the organization as well as outside tax advisors Qualifications: A minimum of 4-5 years of tax preparation/reviewing experience, including public accounting experience Bachelor’s degree in accounting CPA certification Preferred Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Suite of applications, especially Excel Working knowledge of Thomson Reuters’ ONESOURCE tax software, Sage FAS fixed asset software, SAP or Oracle Fusion general ledger system Working knowledge of ASC 740, Accounting for Income Taxes Experience with Tax Research Tools Strong verbal communication and writing skills Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, deadline-oriented environment Bonus Points: Experience in a regulated public utility environment Master’s degree in taxation Requirements • Must possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in corporate tax management or related role • Proficiency in ATX Tax Software, OneSource, Sales Tax is required • Experience with Annual Income Tax Provision, Auditing, Compliance is necessary • Knowledge of Provisions, Corporate Tax Compliance, and Indirect Tax Compliance is essential • Familiarity with Tax Compliance Processes is expected • Ability to manage and direct all aspects of corporate tax activities • Proven experience in formulating tax strategies and policies • Strong understanding of local, state, and federal tax regulations • Excellent leadership and team management skills • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is required; advanced degree or detail oriented certification is preferred.
