Tax Manager, Research & Planning

We are seeking a skilled and energetic self-starter to become a key member of our Tax Research & Planning Team. Reporting directly to our Senior Director of Tax Research & Planning, this role offers the opportunity to be involved in a broad range of projects supporting the development, implementation and documentation of domestic and international tax planning strategies. The ideal candidate will have familiarity and hands-on experience with post-TCJA and/or post-IRA planning techniques and related supporting research and computations, as well as the ability to educate and mentor more junior team members on the relevant tax technical issues necessary to execute.

Responsible for supporting the development, evaluation and implementation of tax planning projects. Research, quantify, and document Avantor’s current tax technical positions. Project manage day-to-day execution of planning projects.

This position will be a hybrid role in our corporate headquarters in Radnor, PA (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday).

What we’re looking for

Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a tax-related field, ideally accompanied by an advanced degreeCPA or equivalent certification requiredExperience: 5+ years progressive amount of tax planning experience with either Big 4 or multinational companyAdvanced understanding of US and international tax concepts, knowledge of foreign jurisdiction tax rules a plus

Excellent problem solving, communication (verbal and written) and organizational skillsAbility to show initiative and work independently as well as part of the teamProficient at utilizing tax research softwareDemonstrated ability to interact with and support a global teamAdvanced expertise with Word; Excel, & PowerPoint; experience with SAP, Qlikview, Alteryx and/or Power BI a big plus

Team with senior tax management and external advisors to identify, evaluate and implement global tax planning strategiesExecute day-to-day implementation and documentation of strategic initiativesActively participate in merger and acquisition projectsResearch, quantify, and document Avantor’s current tax technical positionsEstablish/maintain long-term working relationships with internal clients and colleaguesActively and continuously broaden tax knowledge through tracking and analyzing worldwide tax developments and trends, particularly BEPS 2.0Manage local and international staff on larger projects, providing goals and objectives and ensuring understanding and progressParticipate in the technical development and mentoring of junior staffFacilitate communication and maintain a collaborative environmentLeverage technology to continually maximize productivity
