Tax Manager – International Tax

Description

ICF operates in multiple jurisdictions across the world and currently has presence in several Europe & middle east, and Asian countries, including India. The ideal candidate should have good understanding of International tax, exposure to more than one tax regimes in Asia, and solid US GAAP reporting experience to meet quarterly tax compliance/provisioning needs.

Reporting lines

Although the role is located in India, the candidate will be part of the International Corporate Tax Team (which is mainly based out of US and UK), with direct reporting line to the Europe & Asia (‘E&A’) Senior Tax Director (London Office) and a dotted line reporting to Asia Financial Controller (Delhi Office). 

Given the dynamic of the dual reporting, the candidate will need to be a self-starter, with ability to work autonomously and with minimal supervision, as well as good understanding of local commercial operations maintain and strengthen the relationship between tax, accounting and operations teams.

Scope of Role

International Tax – E&A support

BIDs support and Ad Hoc consulting:

Conducting research on International Tax treaties between UK/E&A regions and other countries, determining the lowest Tax withholding rate, PE threshold, transactional taxes and any other Indirect Taxes applicable in the country. 

Permanent Establishment Reporting and Monitoring

Assist Tax Director/Lead with Permanent Establishment (PE) monitoring (including calendar monitoring of Consultants working in foreign jurisdiction).

Corporate Restructuring, Entity Rationalisations, and business advisory

Assist Senior Tax Director for ad-hoc projects and carry out relevant research such as:

Acquisitions and business transfers

Tax registration in a new foreign jurisdiction

Entities rationalization, mergers, deregistration and office closures

Other business restructuring and evaluation of tax impacts

Dividend repatriation

Intercompany balance clean-up / offset implications, assignment, waiver, etc.

Provide tax advisory and support to business groups

Tax accounting and compliance activities e.g. Transfer Pricing/Return to Provision/Reconciliation, etc.

Ensure tax compliance and timely filing of returns - handle tax compliance processes for corporate income tax, indirect tax (eg GST, VAT, SST or equivalent), WHT, Stamp Duty. This requires working with the tax agents and the controllers to ensure that all returns are filed, and payments are made within the prescribed timelines.

Preparation of annual Return to Provision reconciliation for all E&A entities. Quarterly

Preparation of Transfer Pricing calculations for all ICF Entities within E&A together with the associated quarterly tax provision based on approved transfer pricing adjustment. Quarterly

Assist US Tax/ external resource relating to Transfer Pricing study for E&A entities, when required.

Completing Tax pack for all relevant entities in conjunction with Tax notes during Audit process.

Preparation of Corporation tax instalment payment schedules across E&A. Quarterly

Reconciliation of Tax P&L Effective Tax Rate and Tax Balance Sheet accounts (CIT, WHT) including local statutory to US GAAP tax reconciliations. Quarterly

Transfer Pricing - assist with annual transfer pricing compliance obligations, including pillar 2 reporting (where required).

Other tax advisory and tax risk management

Collaborate with external professionals and local tax authorities to manage tax-related matters and address tax queries.

Tax Controversy – assist with tax enquiries/ tax audits and disputes, appeals for the key jurisdictions under coverage.

· Assist with evaluating the tax effect and implications of business initiatives, contemplated transactions, and business proposals, from a tax compliance and audit perspective;

Analyze and interpret the impact of changes to laws and regulations on tax liabilities and tax structuring

Domestic (India) Tax

Own the process and work related to Direct/indirect tax audit and designing framework for assessment readiness

Interface with tax authorities as may be required for managing audits / investigations;

Coordinating and managing the use of external advisors and counsel to support filing of responses/ submission of information to tax authorities;

Develop and oversee GST related technical matters and refund applications and ensuring adherence to the required processes;

To support  business teams on new project bids, and suggest tax related compliance and solutions

Management of data warehouse and Information Management framework;

Reviewing tax accounting, provisioning and interactions with internal and statutory auditors;

Work on various projects impacting the future strategy of the direct and indirect tax function to minimize/mitigate adverse litigation.

Qualification:

Qualified CA or CPA

4 to 6 years post qualified experience preferrable in Big 4 plus Tax experience in “Industry/Commerce” for at least 2-3 years.

International Tax experience and Transfer pricing knowledge is desirable. 

Good organizational and time management skills to deal with multiple deliverables and tight timelines
