Tax Manager

The Tax Manager serves as an important team member, managing the day-to-day tax compliance and financial statement reporting functions. He/she will also be responsible for other compliance and consulting projects.Tax compliance includes managing and supporting the tax preparation process, reviewing consolidated federal, state and local income tax returns, and preparing and reviewing tax provision calculations and related tax financial statement disclosures. Other compliance and consulting projects include but are not limited to assisting with the annual research tax credit project, deferred revenue, estimated tax calculations, cash taxes, forecasts and planning. The Tax Manager will build strong relationships with the finance function and business line tax counterparts in the US and corporate office. This position will report to the Director of Tax Advisory and Audits. Responsibilities include: Manage Tax Compliance Process + Prepare/review book/tax difference calculations to be provided to outside tax preparers. Review consolidated and separate company federal, state and local income tax returns and provide comments. Assist with the preparation and review of federal, state and local estimated tax payments and extension requests. Assist with the workflow of external provider to ensure proper delivery date; + Assist with the forecasting process and government compliance support; + Manage the quarterly estimated tax payment process; + Manage the Excise Tax compliance process ; + Manage the 1042 and FBAR reporting processes. Tax Provision + Review/prepare tax provision calculations on a semi-annual basis and ensure timely completion; + Review/prepare reconciliation of general ledger tax accounts and provide the necessary tax adjusting journal entry to the accounting teams; + Liaison with operating subsidiaries to obtain pertinent tax information and identify tax issues. Tax research and advisory + Tax research related to state filing methodologies, foreign and federal tax issues; + Serve as a resource to the business on various tax matters including payroll, sales & use, property tax as well as advising on tax impacts of proposed transactions. Audits and Notices + Assist with the audit process through preparation of IDR responses, communication with auditors, and defense of tax positions. Research and respond to notices from federal, international, state, and local taxing authorities. Other Activities + Assist with tax automation including review of potential tax compliance and provision software packages, data gathering processes, and allocation and apportionment processes. **Required Education, Experience, & Skills** + Bachelor s degree in accounting and 8 years of work experience; + CPA licensure; + MS in Taxation a plus; + 5-7 years of diverse tax experience required with at least two years experience in a Big 4 tax department, focusing on corporate income tax matters; + Experience managing long-term projects autonomously; + Proficient tax research skills are a must (CCH, BNA, and Westlaw); + Exposure to the following key technical areas is preferred: consolidated return regulations, combined/consolidated/unitary state filing requirements, ASC 740/IAS 12, accounting for uncertain tax positions, earnings stripping (IRC Section 163j), research and development tax credit, transfer pricing, general knowledge of Sub-chapter C, corporate distributions and adjustments, general knowledge of informational reporting for inbound corporations; + Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Office. + Strong oral and written communication skills; + Travel less than 5%. **Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills** + Master's in taxation is a plus; + Proficiency in Tax reporting software. **Pay Information** Full-Time Salary Range: $113080 - $192280 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
