Title: Tax Manager

Location: Stamford, CT

Job Type: Full Time, Exempt

 

What You’ll Do:

The Tax Manager will be responsible for the preparation and management of all tax-related activities within Curaleaf, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. This role requires a meticulous and detail-oriented individual who can handle the complexities of tax preparation within the cannabis industry. The Tax Manager will play a critical role in supporting the company’s tax compliance, reporting, and planning efforts.

 

•   Assist in the preparation of the quarterly and annual U.S. GAAP income tax provisions including analysis and documentation related to Uncertain Tax Positions and related tax footnotes and disclosures in the Company’s SEC and Sedar filings.
•    Participate in the completion of controls and documentation regarding SOX compliance including recommending and implementing changes to enhance internal controls over tax items.
•    Preparation of federal, state, and local income tax returns
•    Preparation of federal, state, and local estimated tax payments and extensions
•    Preparation of international components of US tax returns (Forms 5471, etc.)
•    Provide timely assistance and support to other departments or operations on tax related matters.
•    Assist with the federal, state, and local tax audits.
•    Monitor new tax and financial reporting developments.
•    Assist with the research, documentation and advise on tax matters related to tax legislation and various business transactions including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, etc.
•    Participate in the development and implementation of tax strategies.
•    Work with external tax consultants and internal and external auditors

What You’ll Bring:

•    Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field. 

•    5-8 years of experience in a Big 4 / regional public accounting firm or corporate tax function of a publicly traded company including the quarterly/annual accounting for income tax process and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance
•    Solid experience with federal, multi-state and international corporate income/franchise tax processes including compliance reporting, audits, and notices.
•    Excellent Microsoft Office skills
•    Project management skills regarding income tax compliance, tax provision, and tax planning initiatives
•    Research and documentation skills; ability to independently research and document findings on complex tax issues
•    Solid business acumen with the ability to work collaboratively with others as an effective, responsive internal advisor.        
•    Professional demeanor and appetite for challenge and change
•    Ability to adapt to changing priorities, and effectively manage multiple tasks and projects while maintaining accuracy and quality.
•    Continuous improvement mindset and proven experience in re-engineering key tax functions or identifying and implementing process improvement initiatives.
•    Communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate technical issues clearly and to interface with colleagues at all levels within the organization.

•    Be prepared to engage directly in day-to-day tax operations and tasks as required.

Connecticut Hiring Range$127,000—$141,000 USD
