Position Overview:

Manage tax accounting (ASC 740/IAS 12), tax compliance, tax planning, and tax audits for US companies.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Review tax provision workpapers (ASC 740/IAS 12) including deferred tax analysis, confirmation of deferred tax balances, uncertain tax positions and reconciliation of tax payable/receivable balances.    Manage the preparation of tax return workpapers and forms prepared by the department's tax analysts for federal and state income & franchise tax returns, estimates and extensions to ensure proper documentation to adequately support future audits and minimize tax assessments and penalties.     Assist with the management of tax audits. Lead special projects related to tax compliance and planning, as assigned. Research tax issues and review legislative developments to evaluate the impact it will have on tax planning. Manage, train, and mentor the tax analysts to foster professional development and maintain a cohesive team environment. Take full ownership of assigned responsibilities, proactively managing yours and your direct reports workload, and prioritizing tasks. This will include proactively communicating with upper management regarding updates on assigned tasks to ensure day-to-day operation of the tax department is in line with company goals and expectations. Build a collaborative working relationship across the organization and with external partners. Continuously evaluate tax procedures, recommending and implementing changes to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

Require Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business or related field. CPA preferred Typically requires 6-8 years of related experience in Corporate tax and/or major accounting firm experience Strong working knowledge of US federal, US International and state & local taxation rules Knowledge of GAAP and Accounting for Income Tax Must be detailed oriented, have excellent oral and written communication skills Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills Ability to analyze and interpret data, identify errors and prepare reports Knowledge of tax systems and software (i.e., OneSource) Strong tax research and analysis skills Strong financial statement analysis skills Strong organizational and communications skills with the ability to allocate resources appropriately to meet group and corporate objectives

Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment. Frequently sits for 6-8 hours per day. Frequent hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.   Occasionally walks and stands. Occasionally bends and twists neck.  Light to moderate lifting and carrying objects with a maximum lift of 25lbs. Frequently drives to site locations with occasional travel within the United States. Able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken and written words and sentences.  Interacts with others, relates sensitive information to diverse groups. Must work with diverse groups to obtain consensus on issues.
