Tax Manager

The Basics:

As a member of the Tanium Tax department, you will focus on all aspects of corporate tax and will work closely with key internal and external partners to support the cash tax forecasting, and transactional tax filings, reporting, and audit defense. You will serve as a true partner to the organization, always approaching work with a lens of adding value to the company. 

This is a hybrid position, which will require in person attendance several days each week in one of the following locations: Addison, TX; Bellevue, WA; Durham, NC; Emeryville, CA; or Reston, VA.

What you’ll do:

Support the Vice President of Tax relative to tax governance and analysis in support of driving the global tax strategy. Oversee and manage the department on indirect and other (non-income) tax compliance and accounting. Enable indirect tax operations at scale, including managing tax compliance, such as setting up new rules and processes (ex. e-invoicing), analysis, preparation and filing of informational reporting returns, payment of taxes, and maintenance of accurate records for multiple domestic and international jurisdictions. Support indirect tax planning for business expansion. Manage processes to ensure timely recognition and financial reporting of indirect and non-income tax contingencies (ASC 450).   Develop, implement and improve tax accounting practices and procedures, including the engagement and alignment of the local country subsidiaries and business with the U.S. headquarters’ tax processes. Research and document company positions with regard to indirect and other (non-income) tax exposures. Work with finance and accounting teams to implement and improve end-to-end tax processes and procedures to mitigate risks and / or scale effectively.   Manage relationships and engagement with external tax advisors, auditors, and tax authorities. Perform other duties as assigned. 

We’re looking for someone with:  

Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting or Finance Accounting [MST/CPA preferred], with 5+ years of tax experience (some public accounting experience is preferred).  Strong tax technical skills and experience with US and International indirect tax compliance. Systems experience with NetSuite, Avalara and the Microsoft 365 suite. Innately curious and interested in learning more about transactional tax reporting and the financial reporting standards. Extremely organized and detail-oriented individual with exceptional project management skills. Excellent written and verbal communicator. Adaptive to fast paced, changing environment and competing critical deadlines. Can act and operate independently. Proactive, high-energy attitude geared towards achieving continuous improvement. Above all else, bright, kind and goal oriented.

What you’ll get 

The annual base salary range for this full-time position is $85,000 to $260,000. This range is an estimate for what Tanium will pay a new hire. The actual annual base salary offered may be adjusted based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, location, education, skills, training, and experience.
