Overview:
The Tax Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the company’s tax compliance, planning, and reporting functions. This role ensures adherence to tax laws, minimizes liabilities through strategic planning, and provides guidance on tax-related matters. This role will collaborate with the Corporate Finance team and external advisors to ensure timely and accurate tax filings.
Responsibilities:
Federal & State Tax Compliance
Coordinate with external tax advisors on compliance and planning.
Oversee the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns.
Maintain documentation to support tax positions.
Manage quarterly tax estimates and ensure timely communication.
Sales, Use, and Excise Tax
Oversee the preparation, review, and filing of tax returns across multiple jurisdictions.
Analyze products, services, and transactions to determine proper taxability and ensure correct tax rates are applied.
Ensure compliance with state and local tax laws, including monitoring changes in regulations.
Conduct tax research to ensure compliance with evolving sales and use tax laws.
Manage sales/use tax and property tax responsibilities across multiple legal entities, including audits and registrations.
Real & Personal Property Tax
Provide accurate asset data to consultants for property tax filings.
Ensure timely and accurate property tax payments.
Process Improvement & Compliance
Develop, implement, and maintain tax calendars, procedures, and processes to ensure compliance with tax reporting and payment deadlines.
Identify opportunities to improve tax processes and enhance efficiency.
Establish and maintain internal controls to ensure the integrity of tax data.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in corporate tax, public accounting, or a combination of both.
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and international tax regulations.
Understanding of tax accounting principles and compliance requirements.
Experience managing tax preparation, documentation, and communications.
Ability to interpret and apply complex tax laws.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to reconcile tax filings and accruals.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines.
Strategic thinker with strong attention to detail.
Effective communicator, both written and verbal.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software applications.
Ability to work Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm with overtime as needed.
