Tax Manager - Indirect Tax

C.H. Robinson is looking for an experienced Tax Manager - Indirect Tax to join our team. In this role, you will oversee indirect tax compliance and advisory activities across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring adherence to Value-Added Tax (VAT), Goods and Services Tax (GST), sales tax, and other indirect tax regulations. Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, you will play a key role in optimizing the company’s indirect tax position while applying your expertise in international tax laws. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The duties and responsibilities of this position consists of, but are not limited to, the following: 

Provide guidance to local finance and tax teams on indirect tax compliance and risk mitigation strategies

Manage global indirect tax audits and refund claims

Prepare and file Canadian Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) returns

Develop and oversee processes for maintaining indirect tax documentation, including W9, W8 forms, and exemption certificates

Stay updated on tax law and regulation changes, conducting research to ensure compliance and uncover potential tax savings opportunities

Identify and implement process improvements within the tax function to enhance efficiency and accuracy

Collaborate with Legal, Accounting, and Treasury teams to support business operations and customer needs

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, taxation, or a related field from an accredited college or university

Minimum of 4 years of experience in corporate taxation or public accounting

Strong knowledge of federal and state tax laws and regulations

Preferred:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment

Experience with indirect taxes, including U.S. sales and use tax, VAT, GST, and HST

Proven ability to respond to inquiries from the IRS and other tax authorities

Background with a national or large regional accounting firm

Familiarity with OneSource Income Tax software

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
