Tax Manager - International Focus

Position Summary:

Trupanion is looking for a highly curious Tax Manager who will play a key role in the preparation and review of U.S., Canadian, and other international tax filings. This role will be primarily focused on U.S. international tax reporting and foreign country tax filings. As part of a small tax team, you will also have the opportunity to assist with and learn about a broad range of US federal and state taxes and drive the improvement of tools, processes, and procedures to allow the company to rapidly scale.

The right candidate will have a proven track record of independently balancing multiple tasks and projects with competing priorities and deadlines, and exhibit collaboration and flexibility under pressure. They should also be able to prioritize communications and requests, and develop, maintain, and streamline processes.

This position is open to candidates in the Seattle area. You will have a hybrid remote/in-office schedule where you will work from our casual, pet-friendly office at least 3 days a week.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Manage tax compliance and reporting matters related to foreign Trupanion entities and all international reporting for US entitiesProvide material support for tax planning/structuring, transfer pricing, tax controversy, and income tax provisions, from a foreign and US international tax perspectiveDraft internal tax memoranda and other written documents with respect to international tax matters and provide support for various tax auditsAssist in the implementation and modeling of Pillar IITax-related monthly close tasks, including accrual of various taxes, reviewing transfer pricing journal entries, and preparation or review of account reconciliationsProvide internal updates/guidance regarding changes in international tax laws and court decisions that are applicable to Trupanion's businessesAssist team with non-international US Federal & State tax filingsThink critically and maintain an inquisitive mentality to recommend, implement, and document process improvements to promote efficiency and compliance

Experience:

5+ years of tax experience (at least 2+ years in a large public accounting firm or large multinational company)U.S. international income tax compliance experience required (foreign compliance experience preferred)

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

Expert knowledge of Excel a plusExperience with Onesource Income Tax strongly preferredWell-developed oral and written communication skillsDetailed with a strong analytical ability

Education, Registration & Certification:

BS/BA degree in Accounting or FinanceCPA preferred 

Compensation:

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000 - $125,000 on a full-time scheduleAlong with the base salary, Trupanion employees may be eligible for monthly bonusesWe want all employees to be invested in Trupanion’s success, so we grant Restricted Stock Units to all new team members. Our new hire grants vest over 4 years.
