Tax Manager - Public
Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Tax Manager in the Public sector, based in Carpinteria, California. The chosen candidate will be pivotal in managing tax-related projects, maintaining compliance with IRS rules, and working closely with different departments to streamline tax reporting procedures. This role is crucial to our operations in the financial industry. Responsibilities: • Managing and maintaining vendor relationships • Identifying and implementing updates to tax information reporting requirements in accordance to IRS rules and regulations • Collaborating with the technology department for system updates • Conducting regular research into tax discrepancies • Leading a tax project team to ensure effective execution of tasks • Working with other departments to identify trends and solutions in reporting gaps • Executing and coordinating quarterly reconciliation of vendor reports • Ensuring back office systems reflect accurate cost basis information • Responding to internal and external customer tax inquiries and requests professionally and promptly • Identifying and implementing policy and process changes to enhance efficiency and mitigate risk • Generating reports for management review and maintaining documentation in compliance with IRS and company policies • Assisting in the training and onboarding of new tax team members • Completing tax projects and initiatives as required • Identifying and addressing potential risks in the department's financial transactions and operations. Requirements • Must possess a strong understanding of Compliance regulations and standards. • Demonstrated experience in Corporate Tax Compliance is essential. • Profound knowledge of IRS Tax laws and regulations is required. • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage a diverse team. • Proven ability to develop and implement tax strategies in accordance with company goals. • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary. • Ability to liaise effectively with public authorities and regulatory bodies. • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines. • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail. • Proficient in the use of tax software and other related applications. • Must have a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation. • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. • A Master’s Degree in Taxation or Law is highly desirable. • Proven record of continuous detail-oriented development in the tax field. • High ethical standards and professionalism in all business interactions. • Proactive in staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends and changes in tax laws.
