Position Specific Description
The Tax team at NextEra Energy is responsible for supplying information to support the compliance, planning and forecast functions of the tax organization. The team focuses on ensuring accurate, complete and timely information is provided and readily available to support the company’s compliance and strategic goals. The effective use of technology, products, data management, and analytics is key to the success of the fixed asset team. On a day to day basis we are involved in meeting business needs by providing detailed fixed asset information from both a historic and forecast view.
We are looking for a dynamic intern with an interest in accounting data and working in a capital-intensive environment. The individual must have the ability to understand business requirements and translate those into delivering solutions that meet the business needs. The ideal candidate should be highly motivated and have a continuous improvement mindset with a natural drive to take ownership of the deliverables.
Excited to work with Tax team that delivers beyond management expectations Ready to collaborate with team on deliverables and management directives Maintain and monitor assigned tax workpapers required on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis including but not limited to Fixed Asset related accounts including costs, depreciation, transfers, gain/loss on disposal, and asset retirement obligations Provide reports and analysis as needed for compliance, tax accounting, forecast and tax planning needs Work cross functionally with all areas of the tax organization to support the account reconciliation process by providing fixed asset roll-forward and balance sheet account reconciliations Eager to develop a technical expertise for fixed asset accounting Identify and implement improvements to existing processes through use of technology and innovation Ability to quickly establish priorities and meet all assigned deadlines related provision, compliance, and regulatory processes Work cross functionally with other departments regarding income statement, balance sheet and income tax expense accounts and reconciling variances Identify and implement improvements to existing processes through use of technology and innovation Effective communication within tax organization to ensure efficient process for meeting business requirements Job Overview
To be considered for an internship, you must be actively enrolled at a college or university as a full-time student seeking a bachelor’s degree or higher. You must also have a current cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher (on a 0.00 to 4.00 scale).
