Tax Preparer - 5+ Years
Description Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Tax Preparer with 5+ years of experience to support our clients during the upcoming tax season. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of complex individual, small business, and corporate tax returns. This role is perfect for a tax professional who excels in providing strategic tax advice, ensuring compliance, and managing a wide range of tax filings in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Experience with Lacerte tax software is highly preferred. Key Responsibilities: Advanced Tax Preparation & Filing: + Prepare and review complex federal and state tax returns for individuals, small businesses, partnerships, and corporations. + Handle high-net-worth individuals and complex business tax filings, including multi-state tax returns, partnership taxes, and corporate taxes. + Advise clients on tax strategies, including tax planning, credits, deductions, and other solutions to minimize liabilities and maximize refunds. + Manage and file tax returns for clients with varied and complex financial situations, including rental income, investments, and international tax considerations. Client Consultation & Advisory: + Provide comprehensive tax advice to clients, helping them navigate tax strategies and making recommendations for tax-saving opportunities. + Lead consultations with clients to explain tax returns, provide guidance on tax implications, and recommend tax planning strategies for future years. + Address complex tax questions and provide expert responses regarding tax law, IRS guidelines, and deductions. Compliance & Risk Management: + Stay up to date with changes to tax laws and regulations at the federal, state, and local levels. + Ensure all filings are compliant with current tax laws, and mitigate risk by reviewing returns for errors or discrepancies before submission. + Review and verify accuracy in tax filings, including reviewing documents such as financial statements, schedules, and additional forms. Team Leadership & Training: + Mentor and provide guidance to less experienced tax preparers and staff, offering support and assistance with difficult cases. + Ensure consistency in tax preparation procedures and provide quality control for tax filings across the team. + Assist with training new hires and supporting the development of junior staff members. Audit Support & Resolution: + Support clients in the event of an IRS audit, gathering the necessary documentation and providing assistance to resolve audit issues. + Advise clients on how to handle IRS inquiries and disputes, ensuring that responses are accurate and timely. Requirements Qualifications: + 5+ years of experience in tax preparation, with a proven track record of handling complex individual, business, and corporate tax returns. + Expertise in tax laws, tax planning, credits, deductions, and compliance. + Advanced knowledge of tax software, with a strong preference for Lacerte. + Experience working with high-net-worth individuals, small businesses, and partnerships. + Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve complex tax issues and provide effective solutions. + Exceptional communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax topics to clients in a clear and understandable way. + Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines during peak tax season. + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, Enrolled Agent (EA), or other professional certification preferred.
