The Tax & Regulatory Compliance Specialist plays a pivotal role in ensuring the organization's adherence to tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements. Working within the accounting department, this position requires meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and a comprehensive understanding of tax codes and compliance standards. The specialist collaborates closely with internal teams, external auditors, and regulatory authorities to maintain accurate financial records and mitigate tax-related risks.

Tax Compliance: Prepare and file accurate and timely tax returns, including income tax, sales tax, property tax, and other relevant filings. Stay abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations, ensuring the organization's compliance and identifying potential tax-saving opportunities. Assist in tax planning activities to optimize the organization's tax position and minimize tax liabilities. Regulatory Reporting: Prepare and submit regulatory reports to governmental agencies, ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements. Maintain documentation and records to support regulatory filings and respond to inquiries or audits from regulatory authorities. Financial Analysis: Analyze financial data and transactions to ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations. Identify areas of potential tax exposure or risk and recommend appropriate remedial actions. Internal Controls: Develop and implement internal controls related to tax compliance processes to safeguard financial assets and ensure accuracy. Conduct periodic reviews and audits to assess the effectiveness of internal controls and identify opportunities for improvement. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, including finance, legal, and operations, to gather necessary information and support tax-related initiatives. Serve as a subject matter expert on tax matters, providing guidance and training to internal stakeholders as needed. Audits and Investigations: Assist in the preparation for and coordination of tax audits and investigations by regulatory authorities or external auditors. Compile documentation, respond to inquiries, and facilitate communication with auditors to ensure a smooth audit process.
