Tax Senior Manager – US Business Process Solutions - Managed Payroll Services
Position Summary

Join the world’s leading professional services firm assisting employers in operating payrolls for their workforce. As a Senior Manager you will join a dynamic team delivering our US Managed Payroll Tax Services offering.

Work you will do:

You will be responsible for overseeing the client service team delivering payroll tax services for clients. Your team will need to deliver the following activities to the highest standards of client service with impeccable levels of accuracy:

Configuration of payroll wage codes for the accurate application of employer and employee taxes and social securityAnalysis of payroll tax noticesPreparation of Powers of AttorneyLiaison with Federal and State AgenciesRegistration of employers for payroll taxesPreparation and filing of payroll tax returnsPreparation of Forms W-2, Forms 1099 and state equivalentsPerform regular audits to identify and resolve compliance issues, avoiding delays in filings and monitoring penalties/notices.Work in partnership with clients to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll tax liabilities.Reconcile federal and state withholding taxes and unemployment taxes monthly, quarterly, and annually.Apply for identification numbers, such as FEIN and SUI, when entering new jurisdictions.Evaluate and improve payroll tax processes for higher efficiency and accuracy.Identify opportunities for automation and lead implementation efforts related to payroll taxes.Coordinate year-end efforts to ensure accurate W-2s and other annual tax filings.Ensure proper setup and maintenance of local withholding codes for employers and employees in the Deloitte payroll tax system.Strong knowledge on Tax State/SUI agency portalsPerform quarterly reconciliation and data analysisIdentifying sales targetsManaging budget and expensesDriving activity in various market channelsDeveloping marketing materialDevising the appropriate quality and risk strategiesReconcile payroll taxes at the employee levelTax Adjustment & Amendment knowledgePlay a lead role in Year-End processing for accurate W-2Communicate directly with internal/external customers regarding tax inquiriesResearch and resolve payroll tax inquiresEnsure that all tax related updates in the payroll system are fully reviewed and understoodPerform internal audits as requestedIdentify and resolve issues as well as drive change for related improvements

As a Senior Manager you will be responsible for driving the market strategy for these services, including:

Securing IRS and State agreementsSetting up the required operating protocols for the service offering

Qualifications

Required

Ability to perform job responsibilities within in a hybrid work model that requires US Tax professionals to co-locate in person 2-3 days per week8+ years of experience in payroll tax processing, preferably in a multi-state US environmentBachelor’s degree in economics, human resources, international business, finance, accounting, or other liberal arts majorsStrong analytical, consultative, quantitative, and project management skillsOne of the following active accreditations obtained, in process, or willing and able to obtain:Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPAIf not CPA eligible:Enrolled AgentCertified Payroll Professional (CPP)Juris Doctor (JD)Ability to travel up to 25%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve

Preferred

Master’s Degree or equivalentProficiency with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Workday, Paycom) and Microsoft ExcelExperience managing people and client interactionsExperience with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPointStrong analytical, consultative, quantitative, and project management skillsStrong communication (verbal & written) and presentation skillsAttention to detail with a focus on quality; deadline and results-drivenCapable of working within large, complex engagements and able to work efficiently and with a sense of urgencyAn aptitude for working as part of a global team and ability to manage multiple assignments in a team environmentLeadership skills in managing client relationships and the ability to develop customized solutions to meet client needs with the ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments, and manage assignments in a team environment

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $131,740 to $299,910.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
