Tax Technology Analyst

We are seeking a Tax Technology Analyst to help implement and support our tax compliance technology solutions as we modernize our wholesale, e-commerce, and retail operations globally. You will partner with Skechers business stakeholders to implement configuration changes, ensure compliance with government-specific requirements, manage data mappings, work with vendors, and oversee integrations into upstream/downstream systems. Your primary role will be supporting Skechers global e-invoicing initiatives. There will be an opportunity to cross-train across Skechers indirect tax workstream as you establish domain expertise in tax compliance.


Skechers leverages Thomas Reuters ONESOURCE for tax compliance and Edicom as our e-invoicing platform. While system-specific knowledge is not required, a background in e-invoicing and product taxability is required.

Job Description-

Ensures seamless integration of new government mandates into both existing and net-new e-invoicing solutions 

Leverages existing project documentation and Subject Matter Experts to become an SME on e-invoicing requirements localized by country and sales channel (wholesale, retail, eCommerce) 

Creates data mappings and document specifications to support integrations with internal and external systems like Thomson Reuters, Edicom, Manhattan Active Omni (MAO), Boomi, ERPs, Oracle Cloud Financials, etc. 

Demonstrates an understanding of sales tax concepts and effectively applies knowledge to develop and maintain tax and e-invoicing systems and data flow 

Writes detailed business requirement documents, functional specifications, and integration specifications for use by developers to modify, enhance or fix the systems. 

Validates results by quality assurance testing and the coordination of user-acceptance testing 

Provides Change Management and training support for end users and maintains relevant documentation 

Performs data analysis using data in different formats and from various platforms 

Collaborates with Finance and Tax teams to ensure tax systems reflect current regulatory requirements and audit results 

Establishes strong working relationships with local business teams, system integration partners, and tax advisory firms 

Helps lead the implementation, maintenance, and documentation of our tax and e-invoicing applications  

Engages on tax and e-invoicing integration projects with varying degrees of complexity and business criticality partnering closely with tax and non-tax business partners (Finance, ERP, Order Management Systems, POS, etc.). 

Provides data for auditors and various stakeholders 

Performs risk management to minimize potential risks. Reports risks and issues and escalates to management as needed. 

Identifies opportunities for process improvements, automation, efficiency gains and application of tax process and technology best practices by using new and existing technologies 

Creates E2E workflow process diagrams, wireframes, mapping documents, functional specifications, ERDs, use cases, user stories and logical data models 

Gathers and analyzes specific payload examples where issues occurred 

Publishes and consumes APIs for integrations with third parties using Postman or similar tools 

Uses JIRA/Confluence to document integration requirements, workflow processes, issues, meeting notes and test cases. 

Clearly articulates both problems and proposed solutions.  

Tracks project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals 

Adjusts to multiple demands, shifting priorities, ambiguity, and rapid change based on project timelines and changes to tax regulation

Job Requirements-

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, computer science, information systems, or related field (Equivalent experience is acceptable). 

5-7 years of work experience in tax compliance, preferably with a focus on e-invoicing applications (such as Edicom, Sovos, or Pagero) or similar tax reporting systems. 

Experience in Tax applications (such as ONESOURCE, Vertex, or Avalara), preferred 

Experience in Product Mapping (Harmonized and Non-Harmonized Tax Codes) for various countries, preferred 

Experience supporting full Agile and Waterfall software development lifecycles (including understanding business processes, gathering user requirements, design, testing, deployment, and training) 

Knowledge and hands-on creation of key artifacts including use cases, user stories, workflows, ERD, user acceptance criteria, configuration stories, business/functional/technical specifications, timelines, roadmaps, Gantt charts and presentations. 

Experience in triaging application issues for multiple systems 

Experience with API and Integrations, preferred 

Must have ability to communicate, motivate and organize projects throughout the company  

Advanced analytical capability 

Advanced written, verbal, and interpersonal skills 

SQL and Python knowledge and experience, preferred 

Advanced experience in Jira, Confluence, Excel, Alteryx, Data Dog, and Postman preferred. 

Compensation for this position is salaried between $120,000 - $150,000
