The Opportunity
As a Tax Technology and Transformation Specialist, you will work in a dynamic and collaborative environment supporting cross-functional projects and initiatives focused on process efficiencies, delivering innovative technology solutions, and expanding forecasting and modeling capabilities. The ideal candidate will have a convergent skillset of technical tax, accounting, and process/technology, excellent communication skills, and the ability to partner effectively across the finance organization and business areas to drive technical process improvements and transformation initiatives impacting tax operations. The Tax Technology and Transformation Specialist will support both tax-specific projects as well as broader finance projects including MassMutual’s ERP system upgrade to SAP S/4HANA. The position will have exposure to multiple areas of taxation including domestic and international corporate income taxes, tax accounting and compliance.

As a Tax Technology and Transformation Manager, you will report to the Tax Technology and Transformation Lead as a member of the Corporate Tax Department, part of MassMutual’s Controllers organization. The Corporate Tax Department is comprised of high-performing, collaborative, and agile tax professionals who are motivated by challenging work that delivers sustained value and a culture of accountability. The Impact:
As a Tax Technology and Transformation Manager, you will be responsible for broader finance transformation efforts and development, process improvement and implementation of technology solutions that support the corporate tax function. Your responsibilities will include:
Support cross-functional tax projects and initiatives, including ledger system upgrade (S/4HANA) working closely with tax department subject matter experts and others across the finance organization including accounting, forecast, and technology teams.Proactively identify opportunities and drive process improvements across Corporate Tax with an immediate focus on optimization and implementation of domestic and international provision and compliance tools.Identify opportunities to increase automation and enhance digital analytics and data quality using existing and emerging technology solutions.Support initiatives to build out modeling capabilities, including modeling tax impacts of forecast, new or proposed legislation, transactions and new accounting guidance.Manage tax transformation projects to ensure project timelines are met and objectives achieved.Gain clear and concise knowledge of the business, including understanding tax positions and the implications those positions have on our data and processesSupport maintenance of tax-basis ledger, tax data and hierarchies, core account structures and software mapping to meet evolving needsProvide guidance, support and training as needed to tax team members related to tax technology and transformation matters.The Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in in Accounting, Tax, and/or Management Information Systems.7+ years tax accounting experience (public accounting or large company)2+ years experience with tax provision and compliance software such as CorpTaxThe Ideal Qualifications
CPA or MST highly desirableExperience with ERPs such as SAP and ERP system implementationsStrong understanding of tax systems, data flow, and interfacesStrong understanding of corporate tax framework, tax compliance, tax accounting and reporting and tax audit data needsExperience with emerging technology solutions (Alteryx, Power BI, Tableau, etc.)Experience with both domestic and international provision and compliance tools.Excellent ability to manage large, multidisciplinary projects, specifically implementation and maintaining and enhancing tax technology productsExtremely organized, detail-oriented, and capable of multi-tasking in a fast-paced, demanding environmentStrong ability to utilize project management and best practices to organize and prioritize tasksProven ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence outcomesExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively present complex information clearly and appropriately handle sensitive informationWhat to Expect as Part of MassMutual and the Team

Salary Range: $134,400.00-$176,400.00
