Role description:

This role is part of Arcadis’ Global Excellence Centre (GEC) and will join our 3,000+ talented individuals working in India, Romania, and Philippines, in partnership with Arcadis’ offices globally. The GEC brings key capabilities and capacity to support our clients seamlessly around the world.  For those in GEC there are options to be dedicated to one country; developing deep knowledge and strong relationships, as well as opportunities to be part of teams working truly globally as a centre of excellence, offering diversity and variety.  Arcadians are by nature, globally minded and culturally aware, and Arcadis strongly believes in flexibility which enables change over time as your career progresses. Role accountabilities:

The role will be predominantly technical, and the individual will be expected to have a good foundation in the following: As an experienced Chartered Engineer, you should be able to lead and oversee a team of engineers and BIM technicians working on complex projects and should be able to coordinate with other disciplines As an excellent communicator, you should be proactive to engage with the lead regions to help them to define task scope and drive the team to deliver the scope You will be expected to grow enduring, collaborative relations with the UK Rail Leadership Team as well as the wider Infrastructure business. You will be responsible for the development and career progression of all members of the team and ensure all staff are nurtured and supported to be the best they can be. This will include encouraging more staff to become Chartered Engineers & mentoring. You will be experienced in line managing people and take on line management responsibility for key staff in the team. Take responsibility for ensuring staff are effectively resourced onto projects Be responsible for growing the capability of the team to deliver complete solution from GEC. Deliver all work undertaken by the team to programme and budget. You will take overall responsibility for technical sign off of designs carried out by your team on certain projects. You should implement the GEC Management System and take responsibility for QA &QC To establish and consolidate relationships with clients and other business leads To use technical and domain knowledge to identify and realise new client opportunities You should be adoring to upskill and encourage others team to seek out new technologies, implement innovation, and implement these in projects You should be able to appreciate the safe design requirements, and proactive to flag risks

Specific Competencies:

Competencies of this role include, but are not limited to: Technical Leadership Experience with structural design software’s like STAAD.Pro, ROBOT, MIDAS, LUSAS, SOFiSTiK, etc Experience working with British Standards, Eurocodes, Network Rail Standards, Rail Group Standards. Design of steel, concrete, PSC and Composite structures. Design and Assessment of rail bridge and calculating load rating of rail bridges. Can work independently or with group of people Preparation of General arrangement and Reinforcement drawings

Computation of quantities:

Preparation of design reports; and, Experience in MS Office software including Word, Excel and PowerPoint; Providing technical expertise and overview to client and stakeholders and assisting clients through technical decision-making and provide alternatives options/solutions if there are changes to project objectives Building effective and enduring relationships with other Arcadis offices to foster co-operation and maximise cross-sell and trade-up opportunities in relevant specialist field Ability to manage and implement BIM/Digital aspects through all project phases Have a deep understanding of future trends and technologies Drive creative and independent thinking within team, including around new digital technologies Providing reassurance, confidence, and a sense of direction to both client and project team members Assisting in the development of Arcadis’s talent through coaching and mentoring

Operational Management:

Using understanding of the technical challenges and client business to form the most effective team Working with client and stakeholders to ensure clear understanding of project objectives and to set protocols for working together Communicating with team members to ensure that they understand, and become engaged with, the project strategy, brief and client requirements Seeking and documenting regular feedback from clients on the quality of Arcadis performance, technical solutions and delivery and advise on the appropriate mitigation as required Implementing innovation in technical issues, problem solving and the culture of the team, leading by example Undertaking technical reviews for projects Performing other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time by your manager or Arcadis General Can lead and motivate a diverse team Identify and implement initiatives to maximize employee engagement Can identify and manage risks and resolve issues proactively Can contribute towards the leadership business plan and strategy Understand and implement best practice with regard to sustainable development Required Competencies; Recognised expert in the field of Engineering Proven ability to network and influence at peer levels Developing commercial skills Excellent communication and relationship building skills, both internally and externally Excellent communication and people management skills Technical leadership with a passion for problem solving Managing collaboration with UK teams and other regions Desire to teach and develop others, Integrity

Qualifications & Experience:

BE (Civil) , M Tech (Structures) degree with 15+ years of Bridge Design consulting experience Chartered Engineer with ICE or IStructE seeking Fellowship with chosen Institution
