Additionally, when duties and responsibilities of this job change, this job description will be reviewed and updated, subject to changes and business necessity. **Custom Job Purpose:** This position exists to ensure an educational atmosphere where at-risk students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, behavioral, physical, and psychological growth and for organizing and implementing an instructional program that results in students achieving academic success in accordance with District policies and local, state, and federal guidelines. **Essential Functions of this Job** A. Instructional Process Monitor student academic performance and use data to develop a plan for intervention. Perform effective and efficient recordkeeping of student records, daily interactions regarding student academic performance, attendance, and parent/student contract. Communicate clear and thorough deadlines, schedules, and procedures to students and parents to assist with goal attainment. Assist the principal and student services team with student placement activities consistent with the concepts of continuous academic progress and wraparound services. Deliver comprehensive instructional program through a team approach in a holistic and integrated style to meet the needs of off-track students in the areas of academics, attendance, and lack of engagement. Establish an effective classroom culture that contribute to a positive environment where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences. Assist students with setting short-term and long-term learning objectives. Support instructional academic interventions with emphasis on differentiated instruction to assist students in the completion of assignments. Provide direct consultation and coaching to students and parents on matters relating to academic needs and learning strategies to enhance student academic achievement. Utilize varied instructional techniques, media, and technology through individual and group sessions designed to meet the educational, social, and emotional needs of the students. Collaborate with the school-based Success Coach and/or College and Career Facilitator to implement an individualized career development program utilizing the district or state-adopted college and career platform. Participate in school-based problem-solving intervention team processes as appropriate. Complete appropriate reports for district, local, state, federal, and educational agencies. Attend training workshops required by the District during the duty day to keep abreast of current trends, new developments in the industry, and government regulations. Support and assist in implementing the district vision, school mission, and school improvement plan. Perform other duties as assigned. B. Curriculum Development Exhibit knowledge of standards-based curriculum, instructional programs, and best practices for middle and high school levels. Highly skilled at implementing exemplary prevention and intervention practices resulting in demonstrated student academic achievement gains. Ability to assess and evaluate student performance to provide results to students and parents. Ability to analyze data and use data-driven decision making and problem-solving skills to implement effective practices. C. Classroom Management Develops, in accordance with district and building guidelines, reasonable rules of classroom behavior and appropriate discipline techniques which are consistently applied. Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Share responsibility during the school day for supervision of students in all areas of the school. Provides for the supervision of assigned students when circumstances require a brief absence from the assignment. D. Public Relations Upholds and enforces board policy, administrative procedures, and school rules and regulations; and is supportive of them to the public. Maintains appropriate work habits, including regular and punctual attendance and appropriate use of conference and planning time. Strives to communicate the positive aspects of the Graduation Enhancement Program to the public in word and deed. Works cooperatively with parents to strengthen the educational program for their children. Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with other district and school-based staff. Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders in written and oral form, including electronic media, using positive interpersonal skills. Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with all stakeholders. E. Professional Growth Continues professional growth through attendance at workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced coursework at institutions of higher learning. Maintains membership in appropriate professional organizations is recommended. Cooperates with the administration in planning appropriate inservice training programs on a building or district level. Attends staff, department, and committee meetings as required. F. Student Evaluation Evaluates accomplishments of students on a regular basis using multiple assessment methods. Work with District and school leadership to make appropriate adjustments in the instructional program based on assessed results. Performs duties necessary to maintain the accountability required for the Graduation Enhancement Program. Respects the confidentiality of records and information regarding students, parents, and teachers in accordance with accepted professional ethics, and state and federal laws. **Non-Essential Functions of this Job** Performs other duties as assigned. **Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:** Ability to work cooperatively with parents, school districts and agencies in providing services to students. Ability to develop concepts and ideas and relate both in oral and written form. Knowledge of child development. Ability to administer testing instruments as required. Must possess strong interpersonal skills and have the ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with students, teams and groups. Must be able to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the position. Bilingual/biliterate preferred. **Education, Experience and/or Certification/License Requirements** Must possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and valid Florida's Educator's Certificate in a content area requiring a Bachelor's degree. Preferred Education and Experience: Master's degree from an accredited institution in the field of Education. English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Certification or Endorsement. Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Certification. Two years' experience working with at-risk students. Experience in successfully integrating technology into the classroom instruction. Experience in intensive academic prevention and intervention implementation. Prior successful experience utilizing and integrating academic prevention and intervention strategies. **Work Context:** Requires sitting, standing, walking and moving about to coordinate work. Requires the use of alternative communication systems, such as electronic mail, telephones and computers. Requires coordination of work tasks to establish priorities, set goals and meet deadlines. Requires face-to-face discussions and contact with individuals and/or teams. Requires work with students, internal and external contacts, and with the public. **Physical Environment:** Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions.
