Under the supervision of the School Principal, the teacher provides direct instruction to students in accordance with each student's Individual Education Plan. In addition to providing instruction in cosmetology, the teacher shall focus clearly on the development of positive attitudes toward education and socially acceptable behavior.
• Actively participate in ongoing quality improvement activities of The Legacy Treatment Services including but not limited to: serving as a member of a quality improvement team, customer input, incident/accident and client grievance review, peer record review and program evaluation/quality improvement projects.
• Maintain accurate daily attendance records.
• Maintain appropriate classroom discipline and provision of an atmosphere conducive to learning.
• Participate in the development of each child's Individual Education Plan.
• Develop and implement lessons that follow student IEPs, Common Core State Standards, NJ Core Curriculum Content Standards and School approved Cosmetology curriculum.
• Selection and ordering of appropriate instructional equipment and materials.
• Prepare quarterly evaluations, Progress Reports and Report Cards for each student in relation to his/her IEP goals and objectives.
• Utilize multiple assessment strategies evaluating students’ progress when drafting Progress Reports and Report Cards.
• Attend staff meetings and meetings with parents and/or school district personnel.
• Maintain accurate daily records of students’ academic performance utilizing Mary A. Dobbins School’s Grade Book system or another principal approved grading system.
• Monitor students’ behavioral performance utilizing Mary A. Dobbins School’s Behavior Modification Point Sheet.
• Communicate students’ daily performance to residential and clinical staff utilizing The Legacy Treatment Services Class Notes system
• Provide direction to Paraprofessionals assigned to Cosmetology and ensure that they comply with school policy and procedures. • Deliver curriculum to students utilizing a learning center model of instruction, whereby students are provided with individualized and small group instruction and remediation.
• Perform all additional duties as assigned by the Principal
