Teaching Professor - 20th Century US History
OVERVIEW OVERVIEW The University of St. Thomas’s Department of History invites applications for a Teaching Professor faculty position in United States history. The appointment will begin in the Fall 2025 academic semester. The successful candidate will teach the department’s 100-level, core curriculum course “United States History in Global Perspective, 1865-present" as well as upper-level courses in their areas of specialization, contingent upon department need and capacity. The department is particularly interested in candidates with teaching and mentorship experience in the following areas: migration, immigration, and displacement; capitalism, business, and labor; race & ethnicity; and/or U.S. engagement with the world. The Teaching Professor in History will teach 6 to 7 undergraduate courses per year depending on the student-centered responsibilities and course scheduling needs during the academic year. Teaching Professor faculty at the University of St. Thomas are teaching specialists whose responsibilities are in the areas of teaching and other student-centered activities and service. Teaching Professor appointments are non-tenure track appointments that are subject to annual renewals for committed faculty with a passion for teaching and service. Successful candidates will demonstrate their commitment to developing and applying historical pedagogy for a diverse range of students, to mentoring undergraduate students as they pursue opportunities for historical research and dissemination beyond the classroom, and to amplifying history’s relevance and application in the campus community and beyond its bounds.
