Team Lead Design
**Job Summary** Responsible for leading the design team and delivery of new designs from the concept stage to the development of prototypes through to finished products ready for manufacture. Represent technical expertise and overall quality parameters to avoid re-work with checks and balances in place. Drive creative thinking, ensure customer needs are considered and work along with the operations team to ensure products are designed for efficient manufacture. Knowledge of Application Engineering for Plastic/polymer, metal, SPM will be added advantage, the incumbent shall also work for providing feasibility & design of Special Purpose Machines, horns, fixtures, conduct trials to ensure achievement of desired quality, and visit customer sites as needed for fixing. Front face to client from operations team. **In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:** + Lead the design team, lead the complex design projects hands-on to contribute to the work + Prepares new designs from the concept stage to the development of prototypes through to finished products ready for manufacture. + Drive & meet departmental objectives of quality, cost, and on-time delivery. + Develop team member career and keep team stability and aim for sustainable development of company know-how. + VW Fixture design, Ultrasonic holding fixture Design, metal welding and SPM + Additionally, monitor urgent project delivery of his team members + Provide technical leadership to train design engineers. Improve the efficiency and accuracy of design team. + Communicate and coordinate needs with support staff. Maintain open communication with planning. Obtain critical resources from Purchasing, Product. + Implements quality controls and procedures to yield products that consistently meet or exceed customer expectations as well as all BU quality objectives. + Implement required documentation to maintain work order continuity in team member's absence and also establishes checks and balances prior to given manufacturing + Responsible for tool trial results and implications. Lead the DAP meeting with clients and be front face to clients and strong support to Sales team + Feasibility Study of the applications related to the tooling business, trail results and implications + Deal with the ECNs and modifications required. + Work on Concept Designs with layout study & process study. + Responsible for design of part/component welding & machining tools, assembly tools, jigs & fixture design. + Meeting with Manufacturing team to resolve all issues pertaining to design and provide solutions. + Creating CAD models for the product ranges (parts & assemblies) & manufacturing drawing for the parts. + Preparation of BOM and Documentation and overall review of the same + If required, travel to customer sites as required for technical discussions, tool trials etc. + New technologies like Pulse staking, laser, IR for both non-atuo & Auto both segments, leading the design function with experience in Applications is important to stabilize this design team in comprehensive manner. Overall responsible for design team critical metric and with application knowhow. **Who You Are:** You anticipate customer needs and provide services that are beyond customer expectations. You model collaboration across the organization. **For This Role, You Will Need:** + Sound knowledge of plastic welding machine. + Sound knowledge of plastic welding jigs and fixture. + Listen and able to understand customer requirement. + Understand engineering drawings (Parts/components, assembly drawings) and be able to work out the requirements for tool design. + Applies appropriate methods which focus on robust design, like tolerance, standards, and design rules. + Travel to different customer place as required for technical discussion, tool trail etc. + Generate support documentations from CAD (as applicable) like exploded views, Dim-drawings. + Expert in 3D-Modeling and 2D-drafting. + Broad Knowledge in Engineering Basics & GD&T principles. + Knowledge of design for manufacturing & insight into welding processes and material properties. + Good at Written and verbal communication. **Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:** + Mechanical Engineering or Plastics-CIEPT- DESIGN / CAD/CAM/CAE + 10+ years of experience **Our Offer To You:** By joining Emerson, you will be given the opportunity to make a difference through the work you do.
