Job Overview  

Supports Product Operations leadership team by providing training and mentorship to Sr. Program Analysts, Program Analysts, and Program Specialists, in reviewing applications across multiple programs and preparing these applications for approval. Contributes to the management of turn times, adherence to procedures, workflow efficiencies, reporting, and implements best practices.  The ideal candidate will have a background in business, finance, project management, public policy, or government administration; strong analytical and problem-solving skills; strong written and verbal communication skills 

 

$85,680 - $107,100

 

Note: The NJEDA currently offers a hybrid work schedule for up to 2 days of telecommute work from home. To participate, you will be required to have high speed home internet access and a manager's approval. This program does not supersede the "New Jersey First Act", which requires newly hired NJEDA employees to establish and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey.

Responsibilities

Duties  

Daily Tasks and Responsibilities: 

Attains a deep understanding of Operations' role on all relevant programs and leads team in processing applications Works with Director / Manager to assist in building and developing the team, providing training and coaching to advance skills and behaviors that enhance performance Functions as an SME in internal controls with respect to legal reviews, sister agency checks, tax clearances, etc. Assists Director / Manager in establishing and monitoring staff for performance against goals. Participates in setting objectives, tracking progress, feedback and reporting Must complete annual self-assessment as required. Performs other duties and special projects, as assigned. 

 

Projects: 

Supports management with new and existing program development and initiatives, including reviewing SOPs and partnering with Product Owner teams  Takes lead role on coordinating and overseeing the operations’ implementation of individual program(s) Helps to promote compliance with Operations' policies and procedures. Makes recommendations to improve efficiencies and compliance efforts, and facilitates their implementation 

 

Goals and Objectives: 

Success of this role will be measured based on the number of applications reviews completed by the Team Lead as well as the Product Operations team, quality of these application reviews and turn around times.   

Collaboration and Cross-Divisional Interaction: 

Team Lead will collaborate with Product Teams, Legal Affairs, Legal Compliance, Closing, Post Closing, Accounting, etc. departments to facilitate effective program implementations.  

Reporting Structure: 

This position reports to Director / Manager of Product Operations.   This is an autonomous role that require performing the majority of daily application / project related reviews and making operating decisions. 

 

Qualifications

Skills and Qualifications  

Technical Skills: 

Familiarity with various investment vehicles and ability to understand the business model for early-stage technology companies and small businesses Familiarity with and interest in program goals, from the technology entrepreneurial community to community development and environmental initiatives Ability to understand and interpret financial statements of private and publicly traded companies. 

 

Soft Skills: 

Outstanding analytical and problem-solving ability with a keen focus on details and audit trails Ability to effectively interface with a broad range of audiences, including senior management, EDA Board of Directors, government officials, business and industry partners, and individual applicants  Adaptive to changes in the work environment, able to identify the need for procedural changes and propose reasonable remedies to improve process efficiencies and strengthen compliance efforts. Excellent at multitasking, prioritizing, and managing competing demands simultaneously to meet deadlines Ability to effectively lead a team with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience. Strong aptitude for mentoring and coaching less experienced staff 

  

Experience: 

7+ years of experience in a related work field, such as business, finance, project management, public policy, or government administration Previous supervisory experience preferred Advanced degree or industry specific certification may be substituted for 1 year of experience 

 

Education: 

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, nonprofit management / project management or related fields and / or equivalent experience. 

 

Software/Tools Proficiency: 

NJEDA utilizes Microsoft as the core application platform and proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite is preferred and ability to learn new software packages. 

 

Additional Information 

Minimal physical demands and ability to work out normal business hours Travel expected when necessary for business operations 

 

Certificates and Licenses Required 

Staff are required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essentials duties of the position.
