Team Lead Sterile Processing
Job Description

Job Summary

Under the immediate supervision of the Manager of Operating Room/SPD or other designated management. Assists on daily operations for all aspects of SPD. Assists in providing qualitative input on individual performance, coaching or team members on proper policy, etc. Responsible for knowledge and application of standards, procedures, and codes regarding sterile processing. Provides support to the Surgery team members as well as other departments in ensuring instrumentation is available. Educates, evaluates, and monitors high level disinfection in all areas of the facility.

Minimal Acceptable Job Qualifications

Licensure:       Must obtain and maintain

IAHCSMM - CRCST Certification within 18 months of hirecontinues annual certification accumulating 15 CEU’s per year

Experience:    Minimum one year to two years experience in central service processing preferred.

Education:      Minimum of an Associates Degree, or obtained within 1-2 years. Graduate, or proof of completion in a surgical technology program.

                           Education requirement may be waived with direct SPD experience.

Other:

Demonstrates working knowledge of the English language, verbal, and written.

Demonstrates strong working knowledge of patient supply processing, set-up and distribution.

Requires strong analytical, organizational and leadership skills to assemble patient care supplies, instrument sets, and specialty carts to meet particular unit and physician needs and follow up as needed to address related concerns, as well as to monitor staff activities and prepare related documentation.

Exhibits leadership, group cohesion and communication skills promoting teamwork and group achievement.

Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills necessary to interact effectively with all internal and external unit customers, as needed for an effective coordinator.

Demonstrates working knowledge of hospital service theme.

Requires thorough knowledge of sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques.

Demonstrates general knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and supplies utilized in order to prepare operating suite/treatment room for surgery and assist medical team throughout the procedure.
