Posting Summary
Reporting to the Director of Research Development, the Team Lead for Unit-level Research Development and RD Programs will lead and facilitate the further development of the partnership program to provide consistent research development services across campus. The Team Lead will be responsible for operating a unit-level research development team that, in collaboration with the Associate Deans for Research, supports the research priorities and PI skill development needs of the partnered units.
The Team Lead will independently provide administrative and functional supervision for unit-level Research Development professionals. They will lead RD unit-level research development professionals in all aspects of proposal grantsmanship review, development, writing and editing support. The Team Lead will implement continuous improvement activities, streamline processes, and oversee the development of workshops and programming related to grant writing best practices for delivery to faculty/staff/trainees within the UVM research community. The Team Lead will provide on-boarding and training for unit-level research development professionals.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required
· Minimum of 5 years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience
· Experience in research development, writing, and submission of grant proposals required
· Experience developing content and delivering training in grant writing topics to faculty, staff, and/or students
· Demonstrated customer service experience required
· Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, required
· Analytical skills and effective presentation skills required
Desirable Qualifications
· Advanced degree in a STEM or writing discipline
· Experience reviewing and editing material in a wide range of disciplines desirable
· Experience mentoring staff and/or faculty in grant writing best practices, and understanding federal agency priorities
· Demonstrated success in developing training programs
· Ability to develop/interpret budgets for sponsored projects desirable
Anticipated Pay Range $82,000 - $85,000
Other Information
Special Conditions Open to current UVM employees only , This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule with an option to split time between campus and elsewhere, in accordance with the university telecommuting policy, This position is eligible for full-time telework in accordance with the university telecommuting policy, Background Check required for this position
