JOB SUMMARY
This position leads a team of Buyers and is responsible for working with Category Management to issue purchasing transactions for business units in support of Southern Company business units. This position will report to the SCM Transaction Manager and leads direct reports to ensure day to day execution of procurement transactions are completed in a timely manner including processing Purchase Requisitions (PR), Request for Quotations (RFQ), review of offers upon receipt from bidders, cost & price analysis, negotiations in accordance with company policies and procedures, risk assessment, maintenance of priced line-item contracts and issuance of purchase orders. Reviews direct report's work to ensure that all terms and conditions are met, and any problems are identified or resolved/mitigated in a timely manner.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education
Bachelor's degree in business or management highly preferred. Advanced degree, a plus Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM); or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), a plus.
Experience
Previous supervisory skills over staff, major projects or initiatives desired Minimum of five years of experience with sourcing or contracts
Knowledge and Skills
In depth knowledge of Supply Chain policies and procedures, as well as comprehensive
knowledge of the SoCo Contract Manual
Comprehensive knowledge of principles for purchasing transactions
Comprehensive knowledge of SCM Technology
Proven analytical skills to evaluate metrics, perform trend analysis, market research, and pricing
strategies
Must be able to demonstrate general principles for bidding techniques, cost and price analysis, as
well as negotiations
Must be able to demonstrate effective communication (both verbal and written) skills with the
ability to interface with customers, engineers, suppliers and executives, at all levels
Excellent problem solving and organizational skills required
Must demonstrate strong internal customer focus and commitment to customer value
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with short "turn around" times and handle
multiple activities, Supply Chain requests and customers simultaneously.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Job Responsibilities will include but not be limited to performance management, workforce planning, Category Management support initiatives, workload assignment, directing the daily activities of other Buyers.
Other responsibilities include:
Managing the activities of direct reports in support of Supply Chain requirements. Ensure risk mitigation for all companies. Safety Initiatives along with site specific requirements for plant locations supported. Ensure the integrity of the Sourcing Process through strict adherence to Supply Chain Policies and Procedures. Work with all customers to establish and manage procurement transactions across the system to support Supply Chain strategic initiatives.
