The Evergreen Packaging Plant City Carton Converting Facility is located in Plant City, Florida, less thanan hour outside Tampa and its amenities and beautiful beaches. Opened in 1992 and expanded in 1998 with 195 team members, the facility prints and die cuts refrigerated gable top cartons for a variety of global brands found in retail groceries throughout the US.

Responsibilities

The Printing Team Leader is responsible for leading efforts around the key objectives of safety, environmental compliance, quality, scrap minimization and productivity, as well as to meet customer delivery dates. This Leadership position is a preferred precursor to further Leadership assignments up through and including Plant Manager.

 

The position has direct responsibility for building, documenting and implementing standard work certification processes and other elements of Work System Enhancements (WSE); has direct and meaningful impact on the systems and frameworks through which our employees work and make business decisions.

 

This position is also responsible for organizing around employee training and enforcing all rules, policies and procedures, verifying and approving work hours and pay rates utilizing Kronos timekeeping systems. The printing Team Leader is responsible for the safe and productive operation of the entire plant during off shift hours. At times they have 60 or more direct reports and are responsible for all areas of the plant, to include not only printing, but supply chain, sealing, maintenance and QA when on off shifts. They

work rotating shifts including all overtime, to include weekend work, with their hourly team. They report directly to the Production Manager and have full accountability for the safety, productivity and quality on their crew. They deal directly with customers on press Okays. They also must have specialized skill sets in order to run the high tech equipment of Plant City that has annual sales of over $160,000,000 per year.

 

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

Ensure all employees are knowledgeable of and adhere to Pactiv Evergreen safety policies and procedures, as well as OSHA regulations. Work with HR and other TL to meet our union-free philosophy and goals Organize, manage, and direct the activities of employees assigned on shift to meet production goals and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s). Verify and approve work hours and pay rates utilizing the Kronos timekeeping systems. effective employee relations. Responsible for effective employee relations. Provides employee coaching and development. Resolve employee issues through problem resolution.  Ensure hourly employees have proper training and tools to meet department goalsMeet production goals by balancing quality, productivity, performance, cost, safety, environmental, and morale to achieve positive results in all areas of the department.Work with other departments, shifts and direct reports to achieve team attitude among crews and peers.Check work areas for safety hazards, conduct weekly safety meetings with department employees, communicate the status of orders, schedule departmental clean-ups, communicate with Quality Assurance Manager concerning all issues affecting quality (side seams, skiving issues, mixed loads, etc.).Provide products and services that consistently meet the mutually agreed upon specifications of both our internal and external customers. Responsible for duties listed on GP-PLC-FRM-0005, as required Maintain food safety in manufacturing environmentResponsible for reporting food safety problems and implement corrective action as required Ensure that all requirements of the SQF Code are being administered and adhered to. To undertake operational duties as required to meet deadlines and/or cover for staff absence, filling gaps in resources in all areas Review HAACP plan yearly Participate in monthly food safety internal audits Allocating work to, and overseeing the work of the production team, supply chain team, sealing team, QA team, plate room team during off shift hours. Checking the suitability and quality of materials and all print operations during the production process through to the final quality check and dispatch. To review and make recommendations to ensure that operations run effectively. To work closely with HR to produce and review individual/team performance. Providing information and commentary on a regular basis. Purchasing critical items for the plant having direct relationships with vendors and maintaining positive relations with the vendors to aid in the success of the facility meeting production goals. Ensure that team completes all training requirementsAssist in annual verification of area SOP’s Qualifications

Qualifications: Education, Skills and/or Experience Required:

B.S. in Engineering or technical degree or equivalent experience. Mechanical Engineering preferred 5+ years Manufacturing experience First Line Team Leader experience in flexographic or process print at one Pactiv Evergreen’s North American Converting Facilities preferred. A demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others. Demonstrated Supervisory skills. Ability to balance and achieve positive results in the areas of safety, quality, productivity, cost and employee relations. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work well under pressure. Strong team player. Knowledge of production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of product. Knowledge of business and management principles. Computer literate. Knowledge of Food Safety Requirements Ability to interpret and administer the SQF Code.

 

 

Working Conditions and Environment/Physical Demands:

Must be able to operate office equipment including desktop computers, handheld devices, photocopiers, scanners, facsimile machines, and voicemail systemsNormally works an 8-hour shift but may work more hours as needed.Stand/walk 8-12 hours a day on concreteMust be able to lift up to 40 lbs. on occasion from floor levelTurning while carrying 25 lb. loadMust be able to sit, stand, stoop, squat, climb, reach, grasp, grip, carry, and maneuver around an office and the production floor.Must be able to work on manufacturing production floor and able to wear all required safetyequipment.Tearing carton tests – involves flexion of wrists and gripThe team member is required to be able to perform the above tasks, with or without reasonableaccommodation.
