Team Leader AKM
**Job Summary** The Team Leader AKM leads a geographically dispersed engineering team that analyzes new business, public and system improvement, and maintenance project completion information to assure compliance with proposed designs, company standards and other applicable guidelines and codes. Project as-built documentation is also evaluated for proper testing and complete documentation. The successful candidate will lead a team of GIS Specialists, GIS Engineering Technicians, Engineering Records Clerks and contractors who ensure that gas and electric facility data is created, updated, and maintained accurately in the work management system, GIS, and plant accounting system. The information is also made accessible in accordance with all designated standards for timeliness and accuracy that support operational needs and meet internal customer expectations. The GIS Engineering Technicians provide technical assistance and support for Construction and Field Operations staff involved in the construction, operation, and maintenance of distribution facilities. Natural gas and electric distribution facilities consist of main lines, service lines, and measurement & regulation equipment.  **Essential Functions** + Ensure that completed project data meet safe/efficient high quality engineering designs that comply with policies, practices, standards, and applicable codes. + Responsible for Accurate and timely recording of natural gas and electric facility additions and changes in GIS or required systems. + Leads a qualified team at least two or more full time employees and has the authority to hire, terminate, coach, develop, promote, demote and performance manage members of the team. + Consistent communication with key stakeholders and business partners and drives mutually supportive relationships. + Support functional consistency, process standardization and operational excellence. + Effective partnerships with Construction, Field Engineering, Field Operations, System Operations, Damage Prevention, Finance (Asset Accounting), Tax, IT and other Technical Operations functions to establish, prioritize and meet strategic business goals and objectives. + Manages the daily activities of staff and contractors while partnering with Management establishing and executing group goals, objectives, development, training, and priorities. + Analyze project completion information to assure compliance with proposed designs, company standards and other applicable guidelines and codes. + Supports review of records reported in work management system are consistent with reporting from the GIS. + Recommends, helps justify, and implements value-added technology, tools and planning techniques to improve process results and financial efficiency. + Supports the long-term strategy for optimal utilization of our enterprise systems, while ensuring quality assurance controls are effective. + Ensures the GIS data structure and data quality support the effective use of spatial data in applications throughout the enterprise. + Facilitates best practice identification, quantification, alignment, and adoption within the organization and with business partners. **Required Qualifications For Position** + Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience + Advanced education in Engineering, GIS, Survey, Information Technology, or related discipline.  + Prior leadership experience. + Experience with GIS, GPS and other related spatial technologies.  + Gas and/or electric utility operations experience.  + Knowledge of company and gas and electric utility industry codes, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures. + Demonstrated knowledge of various PC applications and software (i.e. Word, Excel, AutoCAD). + Knowledge of basic mapping/cartographic concepts (accuracy, scale, datum, projection, coordinates, etc.). + Proficiency in basic math skills. + Proficiency in basic geometry. + May require travel to support geographically dispersed team + Demonstrated adherence to The NiSource Way + Valid Driver’s License **Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position** + Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Engineering, GIS, or related technical discipline from an accredited institution.  + Proven knowledge of cartography + Professional Certification in applicable fields such as GIS, Survey, Engineering, Project Management or Lean Six Sigma. + Profession surveying licensure, certification or equivalent experience + Proficiency in corporate digital mapping/GIS software (i.e. ESRI, ArcFM, AutoCAD).  + Understanding of basic coding language and application + Demonstrated knowledge of gas and electric operations practices and standards.  + Working knowledge of operations support systems (e.g. WMS, WMSDocs, COGNOS, DIS, PowerPlant).  + Prior experience with the design capital project execution process.  + Demonstrated ability to query and analyze GIS data.  + Proven history of creating and delivering training and presentation experience both remotely and in person.  + Proven history of data analysis through various applications + Demonstrated knowledge of various PC applications and software (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).  + Ability to run and utilize Cognos reporting features.  + Experienced with the effective delivery of training & evaluation programs + Experience in leading project management teams + Database experience - ORCAL HANA **Work Authorization** Authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship. **Inclusion & Diversity** Value inclusion within your day to day responsibilities by respecting others perspectives/convictions, engaging others opinions, creating a safe environment where people, ideas, and opinions are valued within your Team/Customers and external partners.
