Team Leader - Couplings Machining 3rd Shift

Eaton’s IS AER FED division is currently seeking a Team Leader - Couplings Machining 3rd Shift.

The hours for this role are 11pm-7am

The hourly rate for this position is $33.00 per hour.

What you’ll do:

Position Overview
The Team Leader, under the guidance of a Front Line Leader, is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and support to 10-15 hourly operators while also partnering with supply chain to review and release daily production schedules in order to meet or exceed monthly production and sales targets. This position is responsible for ensuring a smooth shift, including pre and post shift checks and consistent check-ins with operators while escalating production, safety, and quality issues as needed. 


Essential Functions
-    Perform daily check-ins with all operators throughout shift in order to resolve issues as they arise or, when necessary, escalate issues through proper channels based on nature of issue.
-    Identify training needs for operators and ensure proper training either through themselves or through other qualified operators. Provide individual performance feedback when needed.
-    Partner with planners to release daily production schedules based on heijunka board to ensure consistent production flow.
-    Prepare for shift by reviewing preflight checklist and previous shift’s handover report as well as check call-ins and adjust daily manning plan.
-    Prepare for next shift, including reviewing manning and production schedule and completing shift handover and end of shift reports.
-    Lead daily tier I meetings, sharing yesterday’s production performance and today’s production plan. Identify and create action plans to be shared in daily tier II meetings.
-    Provide technical support to operators, including setting-up, programming, and troubleshooting machines, as well as operate machines when needed to achieve key metrics, such as on-time delivery, through-put, scrap reduction, and overtime. 
-    Support improvement activities for the value stream alongside materials and logistics, quality, and operations.
-    Report safety and quality concerns and own or support corrective and closing actions.
 

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications
-    High School Diploma or GED required.
-    Minimum of five (5) years experience in manufacturing processes.
-    Candidate must be legally authorized to work in United States without company sponsorship.
-    Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
-    No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates residing within the immediate Beltsville area (50 miles) will be considered for this position.
-    All positions require use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in arms regulations. All applicants must be U.S. Persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. Person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee.
 

Preferred Qualifications
-    Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in manufacturing processes.
-    Minimum of three (3) years of experience in value stream that role will support.
-    Minimum of one (1) year prior experience as a team leader.
 

Skills:

Position Criteria
-    In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes as well as basic understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
-    Technical knowledge of manufacturing machines within value stream.
-    Ability to read and interpret engineering prints.
-    Ability to navigate ambiguous situations and competing priorities in order to identify and resolve problems that arise.
-    Ability to navigate a team environment in order to inspire and motivate team of operators to achieve department goals.
-    Ability to convey information effectively to multiple diverse stakeholder groups at different levels of the organization.
-    Ability to evaluate an individual’s performance and provide effective coaching in order to aide employee development.
-    Proficiency in MRP systems such as MFGPro, SAP, and Oracle.
