Team Leader (Fabrication) - Day Shift

Job Summary
Responsible for Safe operation of CNC Machine(s) and assisting the Supervisor with day-to-day activities, including support, training team members and monitoring production within the Job Shop and/or Machine Shop.  The position is also responsible for assisting Supervisor with running production to achieve day to day department production requirements. 

Work Arrangement: On-site
Work Location: 90 Belfield Rd., Etobicoke, ON 
Shift: Day Shift (Mon - Fri, 6:30am - 3pm) 

As an Operator CNC - Team Leader, you will… 
 

Set up, adjust, and operate CNC machine(s) Monitor machine operation and perform trouble shooting tactics when necessary. Use manual pump trucks, cranes (over head / jib) and lift devices as required to move material and finished product(s) Ensure parts are manufactured in accordance with quality standards, target plans and verify correct run quantities. Seek to reduce scrap levels by continuous improvement. Assist in leading daily start up meetings & maintaining production boards as required. Assist with co-ordinating cross departmental / shift activities or initiatives. Assist in ensuring the team follows all department, organizational and Human Resources policies & procedures. perform quality spot checks.  Supports Supervisor with problem solving and making recommendations for day-to-day production.  Assume some responsibilities of the Supervisor when the Supervisor is absent.  Participate and share input for Team Members performance reviews Monitor the safety of team member work areas.  Participate in Gemba walks, investigations, inspections, corrective action.  Ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety Act, safety policies and procedures. 

Who are we looking for? Someone who has…

Three (3) years’ experience within a production environment running CNC operations & equipment.  One (1) year experience in a leadership role supporting CNC operations & equipment.  Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing concepts an asset  Strong ability to read engineering drawings (blueprints) Familiar with CNC equipment and Processes within a Machine Shop environment.  Knowledge of Oracle or other MRP systems, MS Office Outlook, Word, Excel  Effective communication skills (written and verbal), excellent listening skills and strong ability to understand issues to support team members as required.  Ability to instruct, train and coach others.  Ability to adapt to meet on the fly to meet the needs of department and customers.  Ability to follow and Create work instructions to meet production targets.
